Esquire Tavern is on the Riverwalk, and should be a must-eat for any tourist.
Esquire boasts the largest wooden bar in Texas, and it is long.
When entering the tavern, the bar area is in the front, and the dining area is toward the rear. There is both, eat in and patio dining available.
Servers were well informed and extremely attentive.
There is an unsual list of cocktails, and we had to try two. The cocktails are expensive, but excellent quality.
The food is where the Esquire really shines. This is not your usual bar food but exquisitely crafted delicacies to whet the appetite and satisfy any gourmand. The bloody maria shrimp cocktail was to die for. Entrees were excellent and my husband raved about the chili cole slaw.
The space has been modernized but with an eye of maintaining the unique 30s feel of the space.
This appears to be the sort of place mostly locals go to, and that's a shame, because this place was AWESOME.
