“Better Embassy than most”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

This is an Embassy that's run more like a true Hilton Hotel, i.e. it's more of a business hotel versus a tourist hotel. They treat their Honors members well. Because it's clean, run efficiently, good desk staff and great location making this a property that I will happy to return to. Excellent restaurants are in the area as well completes the package.

We stayed here back in December and made our reservation three months in advance under a wedding block. At the time of our reservation, we informed the booking agent we want a room facing river walk. At check in, we were informed they didn’t have river walk facing rooms. When we mentioned that we booked 3 months ago and did mention what we wanted, the lady just said that was our preference and the rooms with the view were higher price but nothing could be done since they didn’t have any avlb. Again, at the time of the booking we were NEVER informed or provided different prices for view or non-view rooms. This is was disappointing especially once we got to the room and had a view of a parking lot :( Other con for this hotel was that the internet was extremely slow. Took us 15 minutes to get directions (referring the computers in the lobby area.) and the printer didn’t work.
Other than the above issues we had no problems with the hotels, room, and the customer service. The rooms were very clean and large. The location is great. Breakfast was awesome. We would stay at this hotel again, but will make sure to book the higher price – river walk facing room.

Room Tip: Be very clear about what type of room you are booking/wanting.

Hotel was so convenient to the riverwalk. Complimentary hot breakfast every morning was great. Much better than the usual. Manager's reception each evening had an open bar and snacks. I attended nightly. :) Rooms were large and comfortable. Join the Hilton Honors group to get free wifi access in your room.

We were actually there Jan 2012,
This was a perfect choice if you want to be Riverfront in downtown San Antonio. Perfect location, it was a busy hotel given that its in a prime location to see all the sights close to The Alamo and museums. The evening drinks and breakfast were great, but a little busy but there was a Cheerleading function going on so I don't believe that was the norm. The room was set up a little differently than other ES but had the same amenities, living space and a separate bedroom. We were there on a College visit so it was fine for the 3 of us. We enjoyed a walk down the River one night for dinner and then did the boat tour on another day it was very nice. Highly recommend this hotel for its Location.

My husband and I visited the Embassy Suites Riverwalk in San Antonio for the time. We have stayed at numerous Embassy Suites and this one holds true to the chain name. It is a very nice hotel. We had a great view of the Riverwalk. It was very crowded when we visited, but overall the experience was great. Along with the complimentary Breakfast bar and Manager's Happy Hour reception, there is also a great onsite restaurant "Luke". This is a little upscale, but great food..

Room Tip: Also join Hilton Honors club. It is free and you get rewards.

We checked in for three nits over New Year's Eve. Check in was prompt and it was cocktail hour so we immediately put our bags in the room and went to the lobby for cocktails. The cocktails were not good unless you had beer. The line had approximately 40 people in it at all times and the tables were all full. So, if someone wanted to save a table and you went to get cocktails, which you were allowed two, it took 15-20 minutes to do this. We tipped the bartender ten dollars and she basically ignored the fact we tipped her. There were so many people and the food was fair that we never went back for cocktail hour again. Breakfast was in the same lobby location. They really need to look at their setup because there was a buffet line and the trays were at the omelette station. The coffee was in the way back and the toast area was cramped if you wanted to make toast. We struggled to fin a table the first two mornings and finally went very early the last day. The best thing about the breakfast were the omelette chefs. Our room was a nice size but cleanliness was subpar. One bar of soap to be shared in the shower and the sink, amenities were limited and cheap, they didn't even vacuum the room during the time we were there. All in all for the price paid it was a disappointment. We are Hilton Honors and booked this room six months in advance, we asked for a view and were given a view of a parking deck whose lights were so bright we had no choice but to close the curtains at night.

We spent a weekend here and it was a very nice, new, clean hotel. Amenities were nice, including (mildly) heated outdoor pool and hot tub. Breakfast and Manager's Happy Hour were as one expects. The hotel is only 2 year sold and is in good shape. even the couch was pretty comfortable, which I have run into the opposite in some older ESs. The only thing to keep in mind is it is about 2 or 3 blocks safe walk to the restaurant/trendy area of the riverwalk, which is a two sided issue. On the one hand it is much more quiet and uncrowded in that vicinity. On the other hand, it is a short walk or trolley ride to the city's popular attractions and restaurants. This was not a real handicap, but somehting to keep in mind if you expect to be at the center of the action. We would readily stay here again. Room was nicely decorated and lobby was nice. there were no kids activities per se, we did not really expect there to be any at the hotel itself. There are plenty in san Antonio.

Room Tip: Ask for the river walk side. The other side faces a parking lot and away from downtown.
