Stayed here for a 3 day weekend (Thursday - Sunday) with our 2 young kids (2 and 8 months) and we will definitely come back here. Great location on the a quit portion of the Riverwalk and you can walk to the main part in only a few minutes. There are also lots of restaurants and activities right on Houston street. The hotel is very nice and extremely clean. Rooms were nice, but furniture was not that comfortable. Room had small balconies which is always nice. Rooms were decent sized but seemed to be a little smaller than most other Embassy Suites and pull out sofa was only a full size. Had a very small fridge and microwave. Also our room only had one AC vent, so the bedroom was always a lot cooler than the sitting area.
Checkin was easy and fast. Used valet several times and it was easy and fast as well. $27 for valet or across the street is $20 but just in an open parking lot and no in and out. A least with the valet is parked in a garage under the hotel and you can go in and out. Also had room service oen night which was reasonably priced. They brought up complimentary chips and water 5 minutes after we ordered and our dinner in another 30 minutes, and it was good. There is also a Deli and a quickmart type store across the street for snacks or beer.
Breakfast was great and was your typical Embassy Suites cooked to order type spread. The evening reception was great with a good variety of snacks, chips, veggies, cheese, fruit, and a few other hot and cold items for the night. Probably not enough for dinner, but it depends on how much you drink... Oh and they have free Shiner Bock on draft! The reception is great because its 7 nights a week.
Pool was clean and nice but pretty small. Workout room was also nice and new, but pretty small as well.
Every member of the staff was warm and friendly. Everyone from the front desk, valet, bellhop, breakfast and reception crew, housekeeping, and even the person dusting the elevators said hello. The breakfast people were especially helpful as my son left his favorite toy down there and we went back 3 hours later and the lady knew exactly what we were looking for and had it in her pocket.
i think this was the first Embassy Suites that i have ever stayed out where there wasn't a Atrium going up the entire hotel in the middle.
I cant wait to come back and stay here again.
