“Great Hotel but don't expect pillows!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

Hotel looks great, clean, and great breakfast. Only complaint so far has been a sleeper coach with only one pillow. When we asked for a pillow for the sleeper coach, the front desk said they were at capacity and they did not have any pillows. The second day we got the same story. We had to ask a housekeeper to get a pillow, which by the way they did have pillows available. I guess they like hoarding pillows for some odd reason. Also if you want a blanket for the pullout coach you have to ask for it. It's sad that we had to go through so much to get a pillow. Glad that has been the only problem so far.

So I stayed here and upon check-in there were 6 of us. 1 of us paid with cash and three of us paid with cards (I paid for 3 guests total). They didn't give me a receipt initially, then when we were leaving the receipt under the door said we still owed money, we thought we straightened it out at the front desk but after a few hours one of us noticed that they placed a second charge on her account for over $260! I tried calling to get it straightened out and I could hear the desk worker explaining it to another worker here is what the other worker said "oh he ain't getting that money today, it's past 6 on a Saturday, he won't see that until at least Wednesday" and the whole time when I was trying to politely explain the situation I was being cut off and interrupted by the desk clerk. She was extremely rude. The hotel should have been more upscale but the elevators were dirty with whole slices of pizza on the floor one time, breakfast foods another time. I would rather have stayed somewhere else and would not recommend this place for a stay.

We spent 3 nights in the hotel. We had a room on the ground floor. We arrived early and had to wait for a room but we were allowed to go to the pool so our kids were thrilled. The pool is average at best but they do provide towels. Our room was fine. We had a small refrigerator, sink and cabinet but no microwave, although I thought the hotel description listed one. There was a microwave available but the kept it behind the front desk and you had to request that they pull it out and use it there. The room smelled fine when we 1st got in because we came in right after it had been serviced but when we returned from dinner that night we detected a "dirty feet" smell. That experience was repeated every day. After service it smelled fine and when we returned after being out awhile there was the smell again. The breakfast was fine, maybe a few more choices than usual. The hotel lobby is attractive and spacious.

Room Tip: I would suggest not getting a groud floor room is possible. That may decrease the chance of getting...

The staff were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed interacting with them. The breakfast was above the normal "continental breakfast." There was always something warm, eggs or breakfast sandwiches and plenty of choices in drink and cereal choices and also fruit. The room was nice and spacious and always clean. The only downside was the traffic noise from the freeway but would still recommend this as a wonderful stay.

I stayed here one night on business in June 2013. The hotel has been rennovated and is now a nice modern upscale place to be. The downsides upon arrival was that the key making machine was broken and one of the elevators was "on the fritz." The staff knowing of these inconvienences, graciously showed us to our rooms and let us in when we needed it and offered free room service, including alcohol, for our troubles. Didn't bother me too much as all I wanted to do was sleep. Room was a suite that was very nice and comfortable. Would definately recommend, surely there little problems are sorted out by now.

We (husband/wife/teen daughter + teen friend) decided at the last minute to travel to San Antonio to meet friends and go to Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels. We chose this property based upon location, HGP points cost and TA reviews. The TA reviews were on the money and the property did not disappoint! The exterior is attractive, clean and well-maintained and the lobby and public spaces were equally well-maintained. The hotel is located in newer mixed business/retail area of North San Antonio and is very near restaurants, shopping and entertainment as well as the rural, hill country to the north. 25 minutes to New Braunfels (without traffic). We stayed two nights and took advantage of the complimentary shuttle service each evening to dine out. We also took advantage of the complimentary breakfast which had a good variety of hot and cold food and fresh fruit. The kicker is the very friendly and knowledgeable staff who assisted us quickly and politely with all of our needs.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor facing east for quiet stay and some views of the hills.
