“Great resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

The pool area is just amazing: from outside you would never guess the size of it!
Rooms are very new and nicely decorated. Excellent choice! Food is excellent and the chef sources most of the ingredients on a local basis which makes a big difference.

We live in Texas and I have a fondness for the JW brand so we felt a little getaway was in order. The resort is beautiful and loaded with amenities. The rooms are in keeping with the JW standard, comfortable and well appointed with large bathrooms and most importantly, quiet!

The resort is very large and offers a number of meeting facilities, I wish my employer would spring for a conference there :)

Great food in all of the restaurants that we tried (Bison meatloaf?!!), the steakhouse was the only one we could not make it to. They even have a FULL Starbucks, not a kiosk. Very nice feature.

There is a waterpark complete with lazy river, slides and adult pool. We sipped on cocktails while we enjoyed the view from the adult infinity pool.

Guests of the hotel are permitted to play on the TPC course so we could not pass that up! The course is beautiful and challenging. Bring plenty of balls!

The best part of our getaway was the spa. It's amazing. The massage was great but the attention to detail in the locker room really made the experience first class. In addition to the whirlpool (which was fabulous), the steamroom and sauna they also had an inhalation room which was so peaceful and relaxing. The spa also has it's own private pool and you are permitted to come and go all day to enjoy the spa amenities after your treatment.

Overall, the resort is beautiful and very relaxing. I would highly recommend for couples or families and of course those lucky business travelers. Try the tequila flights!

This place rocks! My husband and I stayed here with our 2 children (ages 4 and 9 mos.) in mid-May. Even with 2 young children in tow, it was so relaxing. The pool is great for all ages. My 4 yr. old could go down all the water slides with us and the baby was able to sit in the kiddie pool comfortably. There's something for everyone here and the staff is very accommodating. I highly recommend this as a getaway. The spa is fantastic, too. The hotel recommended an outside babysitter for us who was very good. It's about 1/2 hr. from the River Walk and 1/2 from the Knibbe Ranch, which is owned by the hotel. If the hotel is sponsoring a rodeo, go!

Love this property. I am a Hilton guy but would stay here again in a heartbeat. Resort sits on a very nice golf course. I was here on business so we used the meeting rooms and the Hotels Catering. The meeting rooms were fantastic and the meals were equally good. Staff was very friendly. My room was very nice. That said, had I known that the room would require me to keep my blinds closed, I may have asked for an alternative. I was in a ground level room with a very nice patio and view but was right next to a walk path. Meaning lots of traffic and unless I was sitting outside I had to keep the blinds closed. Regardless this is a great property with multiple restaraunts on the premise and nice bars. 7 if I recall. Can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: There are fantastic ground level rooms but if you get one ask for one away from a walk path for priv...

This is our second time to the JW San Antonio, & just like our first stay, this time was excellent! The hotel, grounds, & restaurants were all very clean. Every staff member that we came into contact with was exceptionally kind & respectful. Finally, the huge pool, water slides, & lazy river are amazing. My children could not wait to get out to the pool everyday. I cannot say enough good things about our stay, & we look forward to coming back.

From the moment we contacted the resort, we were catered to. Upon arrival we found the property to be immaculate and with an attention to detail that was amazing. We saw a Marriott executive (appeared to be corporate) talking to what appeared to be the property landscape director, stop in mid conversation to pick up a tiny piece of debris under a chair.
The Lantana Spa is as good as any we have visited worldwide. 18 Oaks Steakhouse serves a Wagyu steak that will melt in your mouth. Great for families, couples, or executives of either gender or downtime interests. Killer golf courses, and service that is second to none. Top Shelf all the way!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

We've stayed before and it was, as usual, very nice. The rooms are big and new, the kids love the pool, and the breakfast is really good. A few complaints - the service at the pool restaurant was excruciatingly slow. We sat at a table and couldn't understand what was taking so long, since the food is pretty simple. Also, the service was a bit slow at the bar on Sat. night as well. And, the bar food menu is weird - there used to be a really nice cheese plate that was great for sharing. Now they have some strange popcorn and a chips and salsa that is pretty small. Other than that, we really enjoyed it and will be back.
