It is one the edge of downtown and you have to hike to get there from anywhere but the Hyatt but, if you like history and cultural studies it is worth finding.

This is one of those places the kids will like. There is lots of different stuff to catch their attention and you have to move around.

Try and come during the Folklife Festival. The FF is always hot but fun and lots of different foods to enjoy.

“Kind of fun”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012

We visited here because it was part of a tour we were doing with my employer. It was nice and there were a lot of interesting things. Might be a good way to beat the heat if you are into historical stuff.

“Something for Everyone”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012

I had no idea the number of cultures in Texas before visiting this site - I thought of Mexico and First Peoples of course, but not French, German, Polish, Russian, China... If you like museums that are more anthropological/sociological in nature, this one provides a great overview of the peoples and cultures that impacted the state. The docents were very helpful and informative with a lot of local color.

“A museum to appreciate people and nationalities more than 'things'”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012

This is a clear effort to demonstrate how Texas history has drawn from the contributions of many peoples from around the world to create and maintain such a unique history. From Czechs to French to Irish, every citizen can find their roots in this museum dedicated to the principle that hard working people have come from all over the world for a common goal of improving their lives and living free.

“A Look Into The Different Peoples that Settled in Texas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

An informative museum which has quite a few exhibits that can appeal to children - including a large collection of toys.
