“Excellent hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

We spent a fortnight in San Antonio and stayed at this hotel on the Riverwalk. Our selection was influenced by Frommer's, and the recommendation therein is accurate, for the hotel is excellently situated, very well managed and staffed, and of far better than average value. Our room was clean, comfortable, and quiet; and the serving of what are essentially two full meals, breakfast and dinner, (the latter with complimentary drinks) enabled an improved use of our time and a reduction in costs for meals.

Our compliments therefore go to the hotel's general manager, Oscar Cepeda, who is not afraid to help out with meal service, guest reception, and any other task. And to his fine staff: José, for his dedication, his kindness of heart, and his extraordinary ability to find a table in a crowded dining room. Geneva, chambermaid par excellence. Chef Nora, for her continuing commitment, even after 14 years, to starting up breakfast at 5 in the morning. Raymond, for his unsuspected qualities as an film actor of local note. Jackie, for still smiling after serving the 300th drink at six in the afternoon. Martha, for her marvellous imperturbabillity, in either English or Spanish. Amanda, for holding the fort. Brandee, for knowing where to find things. Myrtenique, for working split shifts without complaint. Yvonne, for her meticulousness. And Hortencia, for working though it all.

Our enormous room at Drury Inn Riverwalk came at a price that rivaled much cheaper and less convenient hotels. Stayed there for a weekend wedding with an old college roommate and we took advantage of the rooftop view, afternoon popcorn and fantastic location. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the more impressive the view.

We stayed 1 night at the Drury hotel with another couple while we visited San Antonio. The valet parking was very easy and made it less of a hassle to get into the hotel; the second couple we were with did park their car overnight in a nearby garage for about $10 to avoid the double charge on the valet fees. The inside of the hotel was elaborate and very historical, the check in desk is stationed in the old bank teller spaces and was very neat. The gold decor throughout made it feel very nice and fancy, especially for the price. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. We got two free river boat tickets when we checked in, which we didn't get a chance to use but was very nice. After check in we hit the roof top pool, which was pretty small and crowded with kids, but the view was amazing and after the evening wore on kids left it was great! Their evening happy hour was also fun, 2 free drink tickets per person. The mixed drinks weren't the best, but you can't beat getting nachos, hot dogs and stuff with drinks for free! The hotel has a staircase that goes straight from the lobby out onto the river walk, it's off of the main walk, however we were into the main areas within a beautiful 5 minute walk. In the morning we walked to the Alamo, which was only about 10-15 minutes and it was a nice walk. We missed out on the historical parts on San Antonio and are just waiting until we can get away again, where we will certainly stay here again. I LOVED this hotel and we are looking forward to staying there again as soon as we can!

Our family of five stayed in a double queen suite over the 4th of July weekend. The hotel is easy to get to and is on great spot on the riverwalk. The whole time we were there the staff from room attendants to food service to the front desk were attentive, friendly, welcoming, and helpful. When I checked in I noticed the lobby was older but still had grand touches with its marble floors and chandeliers and spacious sitting area. But as we walked through the halls to our room and once in our room there was a general musty smell and the carpeting is a bit worn and slightly dingy. But the clean comfortable beds, the balcony overlooking the river, and the clean bathroom made up for the worn edges.

Was here for a long weekend for 4th July and travelled with a small child. The staff was excellent and made every effort to make us comfortable. They went above and beyond to make this a positive experience. ther breakfast was wonderful and the 5:30 kickback is great especially when travelling with children. The pool and hot tub were clean and well kept also. Will definately return, and soon!

Room Tip: Let staff know if you have special needs and/or requirements and they will have it ready on your arr...

I stayed at this hotel on the RiverWalk the end of April for a business conference. The location on the RiverWalk was perfect, the room I had was clean and comfortable with free WiFi. Breakfast was included and was a buffet, nothing fancy and was identical each of the 3 mornings I was there. This hotel seemed to mainly cater to Seniors on Bus trips, the hotel was full of them, especially noticeable whenever there was free food involved...a cocktail/appetizer buffet also was included although the lines were very long for the 2 drinks allowed each day. The front desk staff was courteous but seemed to be friendlier to the Seniors--my asking for the nearest restaurant my first night was answered with "just go down to the RiverWalk and turn right..." and a Senior the next day asking the same question was given a map of all the restaurants...Not sure I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the RiverWalk with a balcony

We are glad to hear that we got so much right, but we are shooting for getting everything right. San Antonio does have many different groups of people who travel to our city during the year. It is always our goal to deliver everyone the same high caliber service that has become synonymous with the Drury name, and we are sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations. Your input is very valuable to us and we will be able to use it to improve going forward. We are also very happy to say that our property will be experiencing a refresh beginning this year, which will make for an even more pleasant stay!

Hope to see you soon!

On a trip with a bus tour we had the good fortune to stop at this delightful place for three nights. The location was perfect! Our tour guide had arranged for one of the boats to come directly to our hotel which made it easy for all of us. The rooms were nicely appointed with all the perks one anticipates. This building was originally built for a different purpose, so it made for tall rooms with decor not often seen in today's bustle. The complimentary breakfasts were more than ample and the evening's happy hour nicely done. We enjoyed our time there as it was centrally located making it easy for walk about the city. The roof top pool was thoroughly enjoyed as well. I would return to this hotel on my own should the occasion arise, knowing in advance how much I will enjoy my stay.
