“Good Value on the Riverwalk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

The Drury Inn and Suites is located in a renovated bank building right on the Riverwalk. The location is perfect and parking is available at a reasonable cost in the adjacent garage connected to various floors of the hotel. Accommodations are very nice. We upgraded to a room with balcony overlooking the Riverwalk. There is a roof top pool and workout room. On top of all that Drury provides free hot breakfast, an evening happy hour with free drinks and hot food selections which vary day to day. The breakfast is well done, the hot food in the evening is not that great (hot dogs, tacos, etc.), but could serve as dinner if you have children to feed or are trying to save money. Another money saving hint: book your room using the San Antonio Visitor Center code SAV for a substantial discount.

Room Tip: Many rooms have a view of the Riverwalk. A room with balcony is a worthwhile upgrade. There is som...

We loved the location of this hotel, but it is far from luxurious. The room was clean, but lacked basic amenities. Also, the web site we used to book the room called it a "deluxe" room, but it was a standard room with one king bed. The double windows let in a lot of light, but were so high up we couldn't see out of them without standing on tiptoe. Pluses: Location; friendly staff. Minuses: No fruit for breakfast ever -- it was all frozen food and it never changed; thin bath towels; inconsistent room cleaning; sagging mattress; stained carpeting in our room; small bathroom; very little vanity area. On the whole, if you're looking for an inexpensive option on the river, it's not bad. If you're looking for an upgraded vacation, this isn't the hotel where you'll find it. It's the kind of place where the in-room coffee cups are styrofoam, as are the plates for breakfast, all the cutlery is plastic and the cups, even the wine glasses, are the same.

Room Tip: If you want a Riverview, you'll have to book a suite. Otherwise, the standard rooms overlook oth...

We are always pleased to hear about our friendly staff! While we are not considered a luxury property, but we do feel like we appeal to a great number of people looking to spend some time on the Riverwalk in a great location. I do apologize for the carpet issue that you have experienced; we do our best to stay on top of any and all issues, and are currently working to revive all of the carpets on our property.

We also offer fruit, yogurt, cereal and bakery items in addition to our free hot foods for breakfast. We appreciate your feedback, we really do listen and it does help us improve our property. (And nice call on The Esquire Tavern across the way! We agree!)

Sincerely,

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel while we visited San Antonio. The room itself was very nice, it was a suite with a sofa bed , bedroom and nice bathroom. We had no view in the room we were in. The parking in their garage is very difficult, the spaces are very skinny, and the week we went the hotel was completely booked, so every spot in the garage was being used. The main lobby of the hotel is dissappointing, the floor is in terrible shape, all cracked with rugs attempting to cover the problem areas. They seem to think they have a security problem, no doors are unlocked after 10PM, so when we arrived at 11 we had to call the front desk and have someone open it for us. At one time the lobby was probably stunning, but you can tell it has a lot of years on it. Overall nice hotel, but for $250 a night I was expecting a little nicer, maybe I was unrealistic.

We've stayed in two Drury Inns now and find them to provide consistent services. One thing to be aware of is that Drury Inn - at least this one and the one is St. Louis - caters to groups. The first night we were there, there was a cheeleading event and theer were young girls practing and giggling everywhere. This is not a major problem, but with so many people, getting an elevator, espescially at key times can be difficult. We ran into people who had been waiting a half hour for a non full elevator to come by. Lines at the evening snacks can also be very long. Rooms are quiet and the location is great. There is an exit right onto the riverwalk. The front desk staff are very helpful. Will answer any questions and will get you a cab very quickly. The bar right across the street is a good neighborhood bar - no fears about the clientele. We would stay again.

Hearing you say that you would stay again is the greatest compliment! We do have groups come to the Riverwalk area now and again, and it can feel quite busy. Your feedback is quite valuable because it helps us realize how important efficiency is during those busy times and helps us plan accordingly. We are also always glad to hear how well our staff is doing.

Thank you,

Poor breakfast..no cheese or ham...hotel seems a bit old mainly due to the old carpet..but dont smell bad! Awful parking lot when in a holiday...always full during the night and extremely tight if you have a big car. Crew extremely nice and very good matress..small bathroom

We are very happy to hear that you found our team accommodating! We are also working on plans to improve the appearance of many of our public areas here at the property, and your feedback will help us in determining the order in which to schedule improvements. We would love to have you back to see the results! We'll also help you find the cheese and ham served at breakfast! :)

we stayed in a King Suite, room 625. It had a lot of room. The bedroom window faced the the Riverwalk. Take the elevator to the L floor and you are on the River Walk. Perfect Hotel Location

Very friendly staff. Everyone.

The breakfast was interesting. Wish they had more fresh fruit. we were here during Spring Break , children were here. During these busy times, more waffle makers could be helpful.

We only went to Kickback, 2x. We went out to eat most nights or brought food to our room. We saw many people. Again, thanks for the carrots and celery. The food was just too not for a dieter.

We enjoyed the Drury Inn. did have a car for 3 days. Garage was next to the Inn.

This is a great place to stay. Clean. They have laundry for the guests on the 7th floor. There is a charge.
Location is perfect for all the sites.

Thanks for arranging a taxi for us when we left. We visited 3/24-2/29

Stayed here for three days - the outstanding feature is the great location - walk outside and you are in the heart of river walk but once back inside, very comfortable quiet rooms. Hotel provides breakfast and happy hour snacks/drinks in the evening free of charge - not top of range but a nice opportunity to catch up with other guests. Also close enough to walk to many other tourist locations, markets, theatre etc. in downtown San Antonio. While you are there try the B-cycle - a great bike hire service with numerous stations to get out to the missions and suburbs.
