“Well Preserved Mission to Visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2014

Our visit to Mission San Jose was very interesting. The apartments provided by the mission for native Americans are interesting. The granary can be viewed along with a diorama in it, as well as a grain mill outside the walls. The church still used and can be toured in not in use for its primary purpose, i.e. funerals, weddings, services.

“Interesting and informative”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2014

We took the guided tour with the ranger and found in very interesting. As a result we visited some of the other missions on the mission trail. Each one highlights a different aspect of mission life in Texas.

“Wealth of history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014

National Park guide Tatum Meeks did a great job of bringing the site alive, and with explaining so much more about the motivations of the Spanish settlers.

“Excellent”

Great video to give you the history of the Mission. Beautiful theater! Saw a cardinal in the tree which was amazing since we don't have them at home! Great tour guides! Lots of walking if you're up to it!

“Start here - wonderful history!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2014

Mission San Jose was way better than our trip to the Alamo! Start here if you are looking at the missions - we saw 3 of the 4 and this one has the most information and the visitor center (where my husband got his national park stamp). It is free to park and free to get in, and we had a wonderful tour (around an hour) from a park ranger which I highly recommend. We probably spent around 2 hours there and then spent about 30 minutes at the other two missions we visited. Very interesting history and I learned a lot about the history of Texas which I found myself applying in the rest of our trip!
