I was asking directions at a 'gas' station, when the guy told me to go visit the San Jose Mission. Fascinating insight into the early colony, as the Franciscan monks tried to convert the American Indians. The tour, with a volunteer, is highly recommended. He had made his own artefacts, including rope and a bow and arrow. He was entertaining and knowledgable, if a little nervous.
Classic landscapes, with cactus and stone walls, and the ornate church at the end of the compound.
