Stayed two nights at this hotel. The location is very good, just a couple of blocks from the River Walk. All of the employees we had contact with helped make it a pleasant stay. From the Valet attendant, the Bell Man, to the Front Desk lady, they all were outgoing, friendly and professional at all times. We had a corner room on the fifth floor with a nice view. The room was a little small, with an almost useless small closet. We moved the ironing board into the bathroom to give a little more closet space. The room was very clean, and overall quite comfortable. You have to remember this is an old hotel and as such is not as updated as most newer ones. We would stay there again.

The friendly staff, history, and kept up hallways and main areas help to hide the need for room modifications. The staff was very friendly upon arrival and helped with a fast check-in and directions to food and the conference center. All of the common areas were nice and the historic pictures of the building are great. The rooms had old and worn carpet. The furniture had seen better days. The overall room and bathroom was clean. The hotel is very close to a segment of the Riverwalk. The hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk to the Alamo and Convention Center. There are a lot of restaurants in walking distance to the hotel. The hotel participates in this very good points for green program. The staff way very helpful once again upon check out. I ate breakfast once at the restaurant. Overall a good stay, the staff and history of the hotel made up for the outdated rooms with rough/worn carpet.

The Sheraton Gunter was overall a nice place to stay. The facility was well maintained and clean. I knew there was a potential problem when one of the in room amenities was earplugs. Sure enough, there was a fair amount of noise from the street (and I was on an upper floor) as well as the surrounding rooms. The service was adequate, but there was no one in the restaurant or the bar, but there is stiff competition in the area. The only parking is valet which was pretty steep ($30+/day) or you could park in the city deck around the corner. If you get it for a good price, go for it. If it is about the same as some of the surrounding hotels, maybe they would be a better bet.

We stayed here for our daughter's AF BMT Graduation. Overall, it was a great stay! Check in was easy and great customer service is always a plus. Walking distance to River Walk. Valet parking is a little expensive ($30 per night) but then most of other hotels around the River Walk charge for parking. Gunter bakery (attached to the hotel) is awesome for a quick breakfast on the go, and Starbucks right across the street is also very convenient. I would stay here again.
