I should have known better when I exited off of the highway and saw the Adult Megaplex (adult movie theater). But when we checked in to the hotel, the desk clerk could have not been nicer. He even offered to allow us to look at the room before we checked in. The room condition was good, I have stayed in better, but you get what you pay for and this vacation was on a budget.
The first night we noticed the train was kind of loud but we dealt with it. The telephone was not working but we dealt with it. The wireless Internet connection did not work unless you walked outside the room and towards the office and we dealt with it. Even when we only got 2 towels and there were 3 of us in the room again we dealt with that also. But the straw that broke the camels back was when the toilet overflowed at 3 am, (this time the telephone was working,) we tried to call the front desk and it rang about 50 times and nobody answered soI had to go up to the office to get somebody. They brought down a wet vacuum and plunger and said that they could not stay, leaving me to vacuum the wet carpet and unplug the toilet.
The next day we were going to Sea World and did not stop to talk to the management which was in hindsight I guess we should have done and did not get back until late in the evening.
When we went to check out the next day, I talked with the person behind the desk that had a name tag that said that they were the general manager. I explained to him everything that I have stated above. I asked for one night to be comped due to all of the trouble that we had during our 3 day stay. He told me "well you must have been happy with the room because you did not check out." and could not do anything because we were checking out.
I explained to the "General Manager" that was alright and that I would explain everything that had happened at trip advisor and the other web sites that I am a member of. He then said alright, go ahead as, if he did not care.
I work in the travel industry (for a major airline) and if I received a call from a customer explaining troubles that they had, something would be done for them.
