This is a great hotel if you want to stay in San Antonio for a week. The room we had contained mircrowave, fridge, stove, toaster, dishwasher, pots, pans, plates, glasses and utensils. Everything was extemely clean and had nice ammenities. Weekly rates were extremely cheap, especially considering you can eat all your meals right in your room. It saved a lot of money to do things that we really wanted to do and them some!
This hotel we stayed at on Spectrum One Drive was centrally located to everything nothing was more than a 10 minute drive to places like the Alamo, riverwalk, zoo, six flags, sea world. This place also had washer and dryers and an excercise room. The service was excellent and everyone was so friendly and always willing to help any way they could.
We will be going back!

I stayed here for a week in August 2004. I was a bit apprehensive given the less than flattering reviews on this site.

My impression of the hotel was very different from the other reviewers --I didn't see any stains in the lobby, my room had no noticeable odor, no dead bugs, nothing. As far as I am concerned, the place was perfect for my needs. I stayed 7 days and couldn't have been more impressed, the staff was very friendly and pleasant.

I am relocating to SA in a few weeks and will definitely stay at this hotel until I can move into my new place. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an economical and clean place to stay.

I booked two rooms online when my family and friends went to Seaworld. I was trying to find something halfway decent that wouldn't break the bank since I had to have two rooms. I booked on the Studioplus website, and both rooms were supposed to have one queen bed with one sofabed-and due to the group involved, we really needed queensize beds and the separate sofabeds. We checked in about 5:00 and were informed that we couldn't have adjoining rooms. We went in the first one, and it reeked of cigarette smoke. There were only cheap recliners in both rooms--no sofabeds. When I asked if we could switch rooms, I was told that they were booked up, and these were the last two rooms left. And both rooms were nonsmoking. I told her they may be nonsmoking, but someone had smoked like a chimney in the one room. It was terrible. She gave me a deodorizer to put on the air conditioner which helped a little, but my friend who has asthma couldn't stay in that room at all. The carpet was very worn in the halls, and there were actually patches in the rooms. My daughter freaked when she saw a dead spider on the floor in the kitchen. She didn't see the other two or three dead spiders or she really would have been upset (at least they were already dead). The rooms were very basic and small--no pictures, TV on metal TV stand, small dresser, small bath. I got out my information about the San Antonio SAVE rates (thank God I brought it with me) and called the number for the Drury Inns and booked a room for the next night at the Drury right across the interstate for $79.99. We went to the Riverwalk that night to stay out of the room as long as possible. I thought I could put up with a less convenience for more of a budget price, but this was ridiculous. The area of town is very nice and the staff was very nice, but the rooms are terrible. Don't stay here!

I booked this hotel online after reading a bad review of a different hotel. This one appeared much nicer according to the pictures provided on the internet, and the previous review I'd read on here wasn't too bad. I booked a room for four nights, then called to make sure we could have early check-in. They said this would not be a problem at all. So I get to the hotel at around 1 (check-in was at 3) and was told that there were no rooms available right then, they're still being cleaned (which upon later inspection, I'm not sure what the staff is doing when they're "cleaning" because this place is DIRTY). I told them that I'd called ahead and asked that a room be ready by noon and the manager said, "I don't know who you spoke to, but there's no way we can gurantee that." Whatever. So I waited for a few minutes, and suddenly a room pops up. They get us checked in and I go out to get my kids and mom. We walk through the lobby (actually a tiny hallway with horribly stained carpet and a stench that I still haven't figured out) and make our way down the hall to our room (more stains, more stench). The room itself was okay size-wise - could have been a little more thought out in the space planning. It was very difficult to get around if you had the sofa bed pulled out, and who wants to continually put it up and pull it back out over the course of four days? We were provided with all of the usual staples - the kitchen was stocked with service for four, and a few pans, the bathroom had soap and towels but that was it.
The towels had seen much better days, and a few were actually worn with some holes. And God bless my Mom, she brought her room deodorizer which we sprayed EVERYWHERE, even out in the hall. The smell was like a combination of really bad body odor and even worse cheap perfume. It permeated throughout the hotel. There were some mysterious brown stains on the wall by the door - a splatter of some sort. And various stains on the carpet, and on the floor in the bathroom. The kitchen, I have to say, was quite clean. We went up to the grocery store to get some things for the kitchen and picked up some Clorox Clean-Up, which I sprayed all over the walls and bathroom. We stayed out of this hotel as much as possible - only coming back during the nap to let the children nap, then back again at night to sleep. My 8 year old mysteriously got a stomch virus and was only sick when we were in the room. He was fine while we were out sight-seeing, so who knows what that was from. There was also construction going on directly behind the hotel, so at 6am every morning we'd hear the bulldozers fire up and the ringing "beep-beep-beep" of the backing-up alarm on them. One day we missed maid service, so our trash wasn't emptied. we bagged it up and left it in the hall, assuming it would be disposed of. The girl in the front office stopped us on our way out and informed us that trash is not to be left in the hallway and directed us to the central trash location (what??). We had to go back to the room and take our own trash out since we had missed the maid service. I would definitely NOT recommend this place to even my worst enemy. This was not even an okay family hotel - when I mentioned the stains on the walls to the front office, she said "Oh, so it needs to be painted?" I was like, well, cleaning it might be better. Everyone says you get what you pay for, but I think this time we got considerably less. There is a Homewood Suites right next door if location is what you're looking for, but whatever you do - avoid this one.

We spent 10 days in this hotel. Although there were problems, we
enjoyed this hotel and will likely return to it next year. The location
and room layouts are enough to make us want to go back. The problems
were:
1. The pool is operated by people who do not know what they are doing.
They need to take Pool Care 101. There were 3 days we could not use it
due to nothing but neglect. Someone who knew what they were doing could
have kept this otherwise nice little pool running well for the
customers.
2. When we checked in we paid for the 8 original days we have reserved,
received our receipt and enjoyed the week. When we decided to extend
our trip two more days, we spoke with the staff. Suddendly, they
claimed we still owed for the 8th day PLUS the two we intended to stay.
My receipt said differently. The manager and her staff tried in vain to
make me see that my receipt only READ that I had paid in full. That
their software only allowed them to bill for 7 days at a time and
therefore I still owed one day. Okay, my receipt READ I was paid up for
the full 8 days. The more they tried to get me to UNDERSTAND their
software the more they proved me right and them wrong. They finally
gave in, and grudgingly agreed to only charge me the next two days.
They really were upset that they could not figure a way of making me
pay for that 8th day. They are nice people, but, nice people or not,
they really wanted so badly to prove me wrong. This did not change the
way they treated us after the fact, they were still nice and friendly.
3. The carpet in the halls is horrible. It badly needs to be replaced.
There are no excuses for letting it go like that. Either it was very,
very old, or the cleaning staff has a very, very lazy bone.
Now for the good points. Our room was wonderful. Perfect sized, extremely clean. And, I do mean extremely clean. After seeing the carpet in the hall I was prepared to throw a fit with the staff about the room and no matter how hard I looked I could not find dirt. There is a full kitchen, bedroom area, dining area and living area (with hideabed). The kitchen was seriously cleaner than my own at home. I was thrilled. Kudos to the cleaning staff on this. Although housekeeping doesn't come in but once a week, vacuums, brooms etc...are available anytime you need them. Which is nice when traveling with kids.
Parking was never a problem. It is in a very nice area of San Antonio and we felt very safe. The little laundry room is nice, the exercise room is a tiny little mirrored room with home quality equipment.
If you are on a budget, staying for a week or more and need a good hotel in San Antonio I highly recommend this one. Like I stated earlier, we will stay here on our next trip to San Antonio.
