“Very functional for business”

Hyatt Place San Antonio Northwest

I had business in the area of the Hyatt Place and because Hyatt was offering double stay credits for stays at Hyatt properties, I decided to try it. The room I was given was well appointed and clean, with really good lighting and a nice decor. It had a kitchenette at one end, a sofa facing the large flat-screen television, and plenty of dresser space. The bed was very nice and comfortable.

The check-in process was very efficient. It was almost as though they would have preferred I not deal with the live people and just check in with the machines they have at the door. They did not explain that there was a breakfast available in the morning.

The breakfast was a surreal experience. Some of it is complementary, and some of it is not, and I was never sure where the boundary was. There is not a lot of space to actually sit and eat the breakfast.

In any case, I got a good rate and enjoyed the room, got my work done, and had a good night's sleep. It met my needs and I would return if I had to do work in that area again.

“Unsanitary conditions Poor Customer Service”

Hyatt Place San Antonio Northwest

After spending a great amount of time searching for the best hotel for our family to stay in San Antonio - we finally settled on Hyatt Place North-West. Don't let the pictures online fool you please, this place is filthy. I don't know how a new hotel could be so dirty. Our first room had a foul musty odor, huge brown stains on the gold carpet, and pubic hairs on the bathroom floor. With 2 small children there was no way we were going to accept this room. Our 2nd room still had badly stained carpets, but at least it was missing the stench of the first room. However, to my disgust, there was blood in the grout on the bathroom floor under the toilet area. My husband immediately went to the store for rubbing alcohol so we could disinfect the room. My husband again notified the staff, but nothing was done - not even an offer to clean the room. Within about 20-30 our being in this room my boy's socks were black from the dirt on the floor - and this is the Hyatt???? I just spoke to the assistant manager of this hotel (regarding some additional charges that were charged to our credit card 48 days after we checked out with a $0 balance receipt) and must say that his attitude was less than I would have expected - very curt and dismissive of my comments regarding the condition of our rooms - he simply stated that he hadn't been notified.
So, I guess if you don't mind blood on your floors, filthy carpets, and bogus charges on your credit card almost 2 months after check-out - stay here.

“Don't stay on the weekends”

First night was wonderful, a Thursday. Pretty modern rooms with large flat screen TV. We asked for quiet location and got it. Extremely comfortable bed. Breakfast was confusing because we booked Winter Bonus which included 2 free entrees, but the staff didn't seem to know how to handle that. They eventually told us they would have to raise the rate of our room for us to use it. We told them to forget it and just had the free breakfast (fruit, muffins, etc). Coffee is Starbucks and the only options were Bold or Decaf. Woke up Friday to rain so stayed inside most of the day, read and watched the large TV while laying in bed. It was very pleasant and calm. You can walk to 2 very good local resturants. The staff loaned me an unbrella. Then came Friday night...what a difference. Kids everywhere. Noise everywhere. Doors slamming shut constantly, yelling in the hallways, it was like a different hotel. We kept hearing a loud "thumping" noise from the room above us. We complained to staff and she did come to our floor and talked to the "door slamming" guests. The staff is wonderful. Another nice thing is that you can order from their small menu if don't want to leave the resturant. We were in town on business and my husband had a trouble with the free wi-fi connection in the room. Also on Friday I took a late shower, around 11:30 AM and they were out of hot water. Still, I would recommend this hotel during the week but not on the weekends unless you have kids. The rate is cheaper, it dropped from $125 to $89, but it wasn't worth the noise.

“Great place to stay for business”

Hyatt Place San Antonio Northwest

This place was terrific. Nice, large room, with a sitting area I actually liked using. Good, easy, free internet access. Comfortable beds. In-room fridge.

Breakfast was not fancy, but quite adequate--fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, bagels & english muffins, plenty of coffee--just what I needed.

Staff was great. These people were actually friendly, as opposed to "I'm supposed to act friendly." Quite helpful.

They provide a free shuttle for trips within a few miles, which meant I didn't need to rent a car--I could get shuttled across the expressway for the meetings I was in town to attend.

I was extremely pleased with this place, and would definitely stay there again.

Quite reasonably priced, as well!

I think this hotel is pretty new and it's really cool. A very contemporary, lounge feel with some Asian influences. The lobby is really cool, lots of bold colors and dark woods. The front desk staff was so nice and really helpful. The rooms are very spacious...the beds and living room are separated by a little divider wall. The decorating is great...really chic and beautiful. Nice big flat panel TVs and a wet bar. The only bummer is that they don't have room service, so you have to order out...not even vending machines, just a few soda and drink choices at the front desk. We ordered pizza from the flyer they drop at your room...don't order from them...they were so late, got our order wrong and the food sucked. They have continental breakfast in the morning, really nice fresh fruit and cereals, bagels, etc. I love that they had a little Starbucks counter in the lobby (it's a small hotel) and also served Starbucks at the breakfast...hit the spot. This may not be the best place to stay in San Antonio as it's a long 8-10 miles from the Riverwalk, but if you're willing to drive it's a great hotel. You'll probably save a little money over staying downtown as well.
