“A Very Pleasant Surprise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2007

We were road-tripping to Houston and needed a place to stop for the night. Call after call to San Antonio properties left me frustrated...everyone we tried was booked! So this particular Drury Inn was literally my 15th call - and it should have been my first. My family and I were pleased with every aspect of this hotel, from the pool to the exercise room to our room. The room is configured perfectly for families, the floors were relatively quiet considering how many people were staying at this hotel, and the front desk staff was unfailingly accommodating. We were so very, very pleased with our stay. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

  • Liked — Professional, prepared, kind front desk staff!
  • Disliked — Breakfast ends too early :-) !!

Business travellers BEWARE: not business friendly.

Children running everywhere, dumpy, run-down rooms, the "buffet" and pool is a G-rated "kids gone wild".

We were booked for our two week business trip in San Ant and left three days later...gross.

HUGE PROBLEM = two people staffing the desk AND answering phones for a hotel with a capacity demanding more staff.

There was literally a 'wall of mold smell' when entering the 5th floor that made me just about gag every single time I step foot in the elevator corridor.

I was travelling with a group of more than 8 folks and could go on forever with our troubles with this location, but I will spare you. I WILL be writing a letter to the hotel and will post any response(s) I receive.

As a travel agent I am always interested in checking out different hotels. Friendly staff, from the front desk to the food service people. The breakfast was above average, great to have some kind of refreshments available all day. Evening drinks and snacks sure hit the spot (yes you can make a meal out of the snacks) after a hot day sight seeing in San Antonio. Shopping very close by, easy walking distance. Public transportation right outside front doors of the hotel $1 takes you downtown. Hotel shuttle service will take you to airport or surrounding area.

  • Liked — Friendly staff, great breakfast, great evening snacks

We gathered at the Drury Inn and Suites San Antonio Airport for a family reunion and to attend a memorial service for a beloved uncle in Karnes City, Tx.,- our uncle's hometown 60 miles south of San Antonio. People fllying into San Antonio took advantage of the Drury's free van service from the airport to the hotel. We gathered for a wonderful supper served at the Drury on Friday night and met for a hearty breakfast together each morning. Having our meals at the hotel was great - we could visit in the homey atmosphere of the Drury dining room and the two free meals a day made the weekend very affordable. The Drury gave us a wonderful rate for large comfortable rooms. Everyone agreed that the Drury San Antonio Airport was the perfect location for our family gathering and the best deal in town.

We stayed there during Labor Day weekend. The PROs: The hot breakfast, convenient specially if you have kids. They could have more fresh fruit, though. Too many flour items, if you think about them: waffles, french toast, bagels, bread, biscuits, gravy, muffins. The taste of the coffe could be improved too. Great idea are beverages and pop corn in the evening. We arrived by 10 pm. and we still could enjoy pop corn, tea and coffee. Rooms are clean, with sink, small fridge and microwave. Good for moms with babies, again. Pool seemed nice, not big.
The CONS: We had a welcome reception when we arrived late during two nights: a HUGE cockroach lives in an artificial garden they have in the Conference Center area. I reported it to the assistant Mgr. and he only said that it was good it wasn't in my room. If you see one, there's more for sure, they are not loners. I wouldn't like to see them in their kitchen area.
Others: We couldn't lower the volume of out two TV's. There was no way, not with the remote or the manual control either. Also the bath tub faucet couldn't be closed, we had two shower with the water waste every day.
Overall, it would have been great but I can't forget the bug, it's just I hate them. Next time I'll try the Northwest, it's a newer building, or go back to the Residence Inn.
