“Well put together”

I visited the San Jose mission and found the Visitor Centre informative and the walk around the mission interesting. Good signboards and useful information.

“5 missions in a day”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the five missions along mission road in San Antonio. Mission San Juan was the most complete, the remainder in various states of disrepair but kept authentic to the time period and all worth visiting.

“San Antonio Missions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Excellent way to spend half a day in San Antonio. This Missions are free and great way to expose yourself to other things other than the famous Alamo and Riverwalk. Not in the most favorable part of town, but nothing historic is, but worth the visit and can't wait to go back and ride the bike trail they are putting in from Mission to MIssion. The architecture and layout are perfect for a family portrait.

“Extremely interesting historic sites”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

If you are in San Antonio, you absolutely cannot miss Missions National Historical Park. This is a free attraction - there is no entry fee to the sites, but keep in mind that they rely purely on donations.

The Park is made up of four historic missions: Conception, San Jose, San Juan, and Espada. The Park's visitor Center is located at Mission San Jose. If you have limited time, make sure you stop at this location - or I would also recommend it as a good starting point. MIssion San Jose has a small exhibit (somewhat dated) but also has a great video about the history of the sites.

Try to take part in a guided tour if possible. The tour guides are extremely fun and knowledgeable. The guided tour only further sparked our interest in this time period and the people that actually lived and worshiped at the missions.

We ended up visiting all four sites. It was a bit redundant after seeing the 3rd and 4th, but still interesting. If the weather is nice and you feel like walking around, it's fun to see them all. It sort of puts things in perspective about the different locations and proximity to each other. However, it is not necessary by any means and visiting just one or a few is just as fun!

To be honest, I think I liked this more than the alamo because there were less tourists and it was more quaint.

Must visit while in San Antonio. It is beautiful and worth a look. The architcture is stunning, the grounds is large and makes for great pictures. We enjoyed a good 2 hours here.
