“Great birthday weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

We traveled to San Antonio for the weekend to celebrate mine and my nephew's shared birthdays! I really liked the uniqueness of the hotel - not exactly like most hotels. First one I have ever seen wood floors in! The rooms were good sized and the accommodations were very comfortable. The staff we encountered were always very professional and helpful. We caught the water taxi a few times and never had any trouble.

The room was huge by most standards, bed/pillows comfy and initially clean. We had to get an appropriate number of bath linens from very prompt and sweet housekeeping staff on our arrival (3 guests had 2 towels and no washcloths). Bathroom exhaust fan was non-functional which made for steamy wonders. Front desk had maintenance check, left note that new fan was ordered. Great, but we still had no fan. Housekeeping is minimalist: trash emptied, bathroom wiped down. Beds were completely untouched, same for bath linens (it's a green hotel, we get it, but really?) and floor was unswept/unvacuumed. What is with the trend for hotels to have a few useless (nothing will hang without a loop!) knobs and no towel bars?! Wet towels cannot dry and this is hardly "green" to me. Location was okay, a bit off the beaten path for the riverwalk, but pleasant as long as you are ready to walk or take taxi/trolley to downtown destinations.
Staff was very friendly and accomodating. If you don't mind being treated like "family", this is a great little hotel. If you want/need something, just ask, they will do/get it cheerfully, but don't expect 5-star hotel experience.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your recent stay in our hotel. We appreciate the kind words. We will review with housekeeping about the minimal service you received. This is not the norm and will be addressed. As far as treating our guests like "family," that's excatly what we aim for. We try to create that relaxed atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable. We hope you will stay with us on your next trip to San Antonio.

I had high hopes coming into this stay. Although the location was good, just a 5-10 minute stroll to the busy section of the river walk, the hotel itself was a disappointment. We have Platinum Ambassador status with Priority Club and have come to expect certain treatment on our stays. We were given a handicap room. The sink in the bathroom was literally falling off the wall. We couldn't use this sink as it would not drain. The shower was the smallest shower I've used since staying in a college dorm!! When using the shower, water ran out all over the bathroom floor. Also, the shower floor was black! Gross!! When we got back to the room after housekeeping had been there, the bed was hardly made. It looked like it had been thrown together in a rush. Definitely never staying here again!

We traveled to San Antonio and Austin with our two kids during Christmas. My husband and I both grew up in San Antonio and when we go back we love to stay downtown. Hotel Indigo on the Riverwalk was a perfect location for us. We certainly did not mind the walk to river center (even in the cold), and if we had been patient enough to wait, there is a river taxi that stops right outside the hotel to take you the museums and other activities on the Riverwalk. We liked the laminate flooring (hotel carpet is so icky), the modern decorations and fixtures, and the cleanliness of the hotel. The parking lot is directly across the street and we did not have any problem finding parking in the lot on the three nights we were there. Some people suggested the lot was a little sketchy in their reviews. Honestly, we did not think the lot was sketchy at all - and I have seen sketchy. Maybe it is because we are comfortable in urban settings, but I imagine if you are not comfortable in a more urban setting, you probably should not stay downtown.

The hotel dining is limited, but we had vouchers for breakfast daily, so it was worth the price. The hotel staff were all very nice and the person who checked us in was particularly pleasant and helpful. My father-in-law and his sister came by to visit us at the hotel and could not believe what we had paid. Oh, I forgot to mention, the rooms are very spacious. My husband and I and our two kids fit very comfortably. When we had guests, there was plenty of space for us to sit and visit. We stayed at a much more expensive Sheraton hotel while we were in Austin and it was so disappointing after the comfort of Hotel Indigo - Cramped, musty, blah. We were missing Hotel Indigo the minute we entered the room.

It was a fantastic value. We will definitely stay there on our next stay in San Antonio.

Room Tip: Try to get a view of the river.

This hotel Indigo is a nice little hotel if you want a good value. It was reasonably priced and clean. I reserved a room with two queen beds a couple months before. I was called and left a message the night before check in and told that the double beds were sold out. They offered me a long size bed with a roll out plus a parking pass that's usually $13.00 & two breakfast vouchers. I called then back in the morning & said that was ok. They said oh we have a double queen open now. So we checked in later that evening only to be told that there were no doubles available. So back to a king & roll out. I still received my parking pass & breakfast vouchers. The breakfast was very good. Overall this hotel has nice staff, nice rooms, and ok location l. I wouldn't walk from there to the riverwalk restaurants, didn't look safe.

Our stay was absolutely wonderful! The rooms are complete eye candy. The decor is superb and the room is very spacious. The staff is friendly and there is even a Keurig coffee maker in the room! We didn't want to leave. Room service is very reasonably priced. Perfect for newlyweds. Only downside is parking is not covered. 10 minute walk to Riverwalk is important because of all the food we ate. 9.4!

I recently stayed here for a small vacation. the problem is it is very far away from all the restaurants. yes it is very quiet but it is also very far. even though you're on the Riverwalk you have to get a taxi on the Riverwalk the cost 15 dollars. love you anywhere besides the Riverwalk is horrible. the buildings look abandoned and there are some nasty bars around. the area is missing some lighting. parking is 13 dollars and 50 cents. and by what they're charging they should at least have security. they have nothing of the psychics just a big light and that is it. we parked nearby. fortunately nothing happened....

We do apologize that the experience on the Riverwalk was not to your liking. We make every effort to ensure our guests are comfortable within our surroundings. Please ensure we do have security for the parking lot, as well as the property itself. We hope that you come back again soon.
