4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2012

We stayed here last month when our Grandson graduated BMT at Lackland AFB. It is at the very end of the Riverwalk, so it is very quiet and secluded. The only downside is that it is a good 45 minute walk to restaurants and shops, we took the river taxi $10 per day per person but worth it. The rooms are nice, the staff VERY helpful. The one big downside $13 a day to park and on the weekend it is hard to find a place in the lot across the street. It is about a 10 mile drive to the Valley Hi main gate at Lackland AFB.

We really enjoyed the location off the beaten path, about 15 min walk along the river or 10 min walk down Navarro St. to the downtown business district. Blue trolley and bus stops around the corner, too, and $ 4.- all day bus pass available. Remodeled in modern style bright colors and very clean; comfortable bed. We stayed in 228, a king bed river view room, which was spacious and had a refrigerator but no microwave. Good sized bathroom with large shower. I would strongly suggest this type of room since the cheaper rooms have views of a bleak industrial neighborhood and seem to be much smaller. Did not eat at the hotel restaurants, since all kinds of great options available on the central river walk, see those reviews. This is an "animal friendly" facility. We saw one dog on the patio once. We did not find any animal hair and did not hear any dogs barking during our stay. The outdoor pool is tiny.
Downsides:
1. Several front office staff were quite quite rude.
2. Cigarette smoke from the patio drifts up to the balconies.
3. Noise from a bar across the river was unbearable the first night. We called the front office and were blown off, but noise stopped just a few minutes later and did not bother us again for the rest of our week long stay.
4. Construction noise from the Municipial Auditorium construction site did not bother us at all.

Room Tip: Upper floor river view room with balcony would be strongly suggested since the cheaper rooms have vi...

I travel frequently for work and this time it was actually during Spring Break but it wasn't completely work because I had some family with me. After some office time, phone calls, emails and handling some concerns. We got a balcony view hotel with a beautiful view of the pool and the Riverwalk area. The rooms are spacious and bigger than the Alamo Indigo where I normally stay. Marie at the front desk and Holly the new manager were so helpful and cordial for their assistance and accommodations.

The kids went for the pool but it was little cold. I didn't bother to check to see if it was heated or anything like that because we took off to taste the local cuisine. I took some nap time and the beds are so clean and heavenly comfortable. For the most part I would stay here again... for a more quite family retreat. I do hope that management improves parking situation but I never had a inconvenience.

Room Tip: Whole Foods is about 3 miles north of Downtown on 281 i think, where U can find some good food.

My daughter was supposed too be married on March 15 in outside ceremony. The weather forced it too be inside. The wedding party and guest were staying there at the Indigo. The wedding wasn't supposed to be there. It turned out that were we had it. Everything went very well. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. What make's a good place too stay...it's always the staff. I like too say Victoria at the front desk was always smiling and willing too help. Also a waitress in the dining area was especially good. I know I will not have her name right. But something like Cleo??

We were so happy to be able to help when "mother nature" was not cooperating with your daughters wedding. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on TripAdvisor. It sounds like the wedding was a success and we were glad to be a part of your family's celebration.

This hotel was very nice for what we paid. The bedding etc. was very nice. The cooling system was quiet and the flat screen was a bonus. Parking is in a parking lot across the street and we paid for that but I guess that is normal for downtown areas like this. The free internet was fast and I did not experience any problems with my IPAD. The breakfast options were not bad and the service was good. People who complain about the location need to research this a bit. While it is a good walk from where the bulk of restaurants and bars are on the river walk, I highly recommend getting a boat taxi pass. The boat runs right by the hotel about every half hour and this mode of transportation is the most relaxing way of getting there anyway. If you like to walk, which we did a few times that is not bad either. Overall I would say this was a very pleasant experience and we would recommend it to others.

Thank you for the kinds words regarding your recent stay. Many of our guests really love the fact that our hotel is on a more quiet area of the riverwalk - where you can enjoy the beauty of our downtown river. We hope you will think of our hotel again on future trips to San Antonio.

Considering we are "hotel snobs", this review may be biased (disclaimer!). Hotel is within a reasonable distance of the river walk attractions (less than a mile) and is clean with spacious rooms which included down comforters, a semi-hard bed (that need up being comfortable enough), a refrigerator, a small bathroom with a shower, a desk, a chair with ottoman, a small table and a flat screen TV. They do have a nice small restaurant for breakfast buffet and dinner as well as a bar. and outdoor seating area. The breakfast was good, and the staff was very attentive, we didn't try dinner. However, from the pictures this hotel would "seem" to be very close to all of the excitement on the river walk, and while it is indeed "on" the Riverwalk, its quite a walk to get to the section where the restaurants, stores, and crowds begin. Also, hotel has one small parking lot across the street and instructs guests that metered parking is available if the lot is full as well as 2 other parking garages within 2 blocks. When we checked in, they had the wrong room (king instead of 2 doubles) and were unable to correct this mistake. We kept the room, but the were also unable to provide a cot! Never heard of a hotel that didn't have a cot before! When we asked for extra blankets and pillows, we were told they didn't have many of those either. We were disappointed to find that the hotel did not have adjoining rooms available for us either - they were adjacent, but lacked the door between the rooms. We thought we would enjoy the pool area, but this pool is really more of a "puddle" which was freezing and there was no spa either.

Overwall this is a decent place to stay if you don't mind driving to the main attractions, don't care about a pool, and don't want to spend much on a hotel. We were able to get this on Priceline under $140 a night.

Booked this hotel based on the lovely room pictures. The rooms were nice but don't plan on sleeping if you are on the first floor. My recommendation is ask for an upper level room and one that faces into the courtyard. This hotel is on a busy bus route...and the buses run all night long!!! There is also NO continental breakfast and for the price you pay you would hope there would be!
