This place is a FILTHY dump. We arrived at 2 pm on March 17 and Margaret, at the front desk (all smiles and charm...but VERY wily and manipulative, so be warned) told us they were "fully booked" but that we could be accomodated at a nearby "sister property"; The Microtel. This was very odd to me, as I had booked this room MONTHS beforehand.
Interestingly, this problem was soon resolved, as a room magically appeared about 10 minutes later...so far so good?
We then went to Room 210 and were disgusted by the filthiness of the room. Worn carpets, stained bedding - a real turnoff. When My friend discovered a cockroach prowling around underneath the bedspread of his Queen bed, we decided to ditch the room and take Margaret up on the previous offer of a "reassignment" to the Microtel "nearby" -around the corner, in fact. She was more than willing!
However, the "nearby" Microtel Hotel turned out to be quite some distance away, up the I-35 corrider about 8 miles north. A far cry from the convenient "Riverwalk" location.
Did I mention that these "choice" rooms were now trying (with success!) to fetch the princely sum of $209.00/night because of Spring Break? Suckers were actually lined up and booking in. Naturally, Margaret was rubbing her hands together.
So, it seems Margaret was only too glad to railroad us to another location. Call it "Flip-a-Room".
Here's how it works: When customers (like us) are dissatisfied, Margaret will cancel their reservation and send them to another property where THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHO YOU ARE OR WHO MARGARET AT THE SAN ANTONIO DOWNTOWN RAMADA INN IS. It's all pretend, see?
We went all the way to the "sister property" for nothing.
When the imaginary "sister property" phoned for clarification, it turns out there was no arrangement EVER, and when I got on the phone and talked to Margaret personally, she denied everything on her part. Quite a scam!
So, we were left in he lurch. We had to run around and find suitable accomodation on a late Saturday afternoon during an extremely busy season.
I have contacted the headquarters of Ramada.com...I WILL NOT let this matter rest. This is the smarmiest treatment I have ever received anywhere and at any time. Ramada Inn should NOT be lending their name to such manipulative and shady management, let alone such a disgusting hotel.

I apologize for your experience, and would like to offer an explanation. Our hotel is a few blocks from a property that was, until recently, a Microtel. Microtels are part of the Ramada family of hotels. This particular property is less than a mile away on Frio St.

It seems you went to another Microtel located about 8 miles north of us on IH 35. Of course, this property would have no information about the arrangements.
The owners have been asked to address any guest service issues with Margaret.
