I have never posted a reviewed a hotel in my life, but i always read them before staying somewhere. That being said, the fact that i'm posting now should speak for itself. Let me start by saying that I travel alot, & i have never been concerned about staying in a "nice" hotel. Hotels for me are just a place to sleep & shower, why pay alot for that? So i carefully selected this hotel based on free parking & its walking distance proximity to the alamo/riverwalk. all other hotels n the area charge > $20 per day for parking. So i was happy to save $50! I checked in @ 2pm on sunday sept 5, 2010. There's the main building & a building across the street, which i was put across street. No biggie - i felt safe being so close to everything. I went out (walked) @10pm to a bar & returned @ 11:30. I smoked a cigarette outside the room, and then left (drove) @12:30 to go to another bar. When i returned @2, i noticed my blue computer bag was on my bed, opened. I immediately noticed my clothing bag was gone, my clothes, my $180 sonicare toothbrush, my sunglasses, my shoes, & cologne. I then noticed the window next to the door had been punctured with something, & broken. I was scared becuz i had left my lights & tv on while away, it was early n the am, & i felt they either knew i had left or would have tried to get in even if i was there... I went across the street to the front desk guy & told him my room was burgularized & things were stolen, to which he replied "ok, what do u want me to do about it?" so i called the police, & while waiting he said i should wait in my room....I told him i didn't feel comfortable going over there w/o police, who finally came & made a report. while the police were there, the front desk guy came over & said "this looks like someone had to have had a key", & i'm like, what does that mean? He said that it would be hard to open the door thru the window, & i agreed so that means an employee did it or they had some special tool that would aide them in the difficult task of opening the door thru the broken window.... i then asked the front desk guy to put me in another room, to which he replied it'll b difficult cuz i had a prepaid room. i was very polite the entire time & said i didn't care how it happened, but i wasn't staying in that room. He tells me to talk to the GM the next morning to make sure I don't owe anything...I'm like, for what? So the next morning i go to the lobby & ANNA, the GM, is there behind front desk & i introduce myself as the guy in roomXXX who was burgularized last night. She said, "ok". Immediately i realized this must happen alot @ this property & they really don't care at all about me, my safety, or my experience as a patron there @ their hotel. I told her that i was there to make sure my cc wasn't charged for the damages done to the window, & she said it shouldn't be. She was so cut & dry. She started doing other things like looking thru papers & glancin at me to see if i still needed anything else. So i told her that the guy last night made it seem like I could be responsible for my room being burgularized, & i explained how he didn't even want to put me into another room. Then I told her that it is obvious that he, nor she cares at all about what happened to me. She then said something that really cut me deep, which was "well our attitudes changed when the detective came this morning & he didn't see how someone could open the door thru the window, so i'd like to be able to charge u for the $250 window we replaced but i really can't unless the report is finished." At that point i told her that all i ever wanted was for someone in that hotel to say "i'm so sorry that happened to you, we're going to switch you rooms where u can feel safe & you won't have to worry about anything", but the treatment i received was "ok, who cares, i'd charge u for the damages if i could, have a nice day". ANNA's reply to that was, i'm sorry. i let her know i'd be calling her corporate office, to which i did, & i'm awaiting my follow up call about that. i would not recommend this shady hotel, not for free parking, not for any loyalty to days inn, and not even if they gave me a free months stay there for my trouble!!!
