We stayed in this hotel for a professional conference and it was definitely not worth the money. We had to wait 20 minutes in line in order to unload the car onto a porters cart, because they apparently failed to recognize that the majority of the 700 registrants might arrive within the same time frame. I was then required to drive to car to park it in an off-site lot, because I was not willing to pay the ridiculous daily valet fee. I’ve been to better hotels that allow guests to park on site and valet is off-site. There is a connecting corridor/tunnel , but I was not told this and found myself walking with the remainder of my luggage down the up-ramp.

There was a very long line at the desk and a general atmosphere of overwhelm. Once in the room we discovered, unlike the other hotels on our trip, that were half the price, it did not come with a refrigerator. The bathroom tiles like much of the decor around the hotel were chipped and worn. Also, if you are going to use plants, you really should keep them watered.

We decided to eat in the hotel restaurant, again long lines and overwhelm, one would assume a hotel with a conference suite would have some experience with scheduling. When we arrived at the top of the line, we were told we could be seated, but only if we ate the pasta buffet. We explained this wasn’t going to work because neither of us eat wheat and so couldn’t eat the past or the pizza offered. Our server Rene Ochoa and the manager were wonderful. They took our orders quickly and served us in time to attend the keynote speaker, which as miracle given the number of orders before ours. They continued to offer us the best service throughout the weekend and the chef on Sunday morning made me perfect poached eggs.
The food however was mediocre. We ordered rib eye steak, medium rare, which first came well done and the replacement was medium and very grizzly, not worth the price. The olives were omitted from the salad. There was only one waiter, who said two others didn’t show.

Given the chaos at check-in, and because only one of us was actually registered for the conference, we asked for a late check out and were denied. When we explained this was because I would have to hangout in the lobby with all our luggage until the end of the conference, the boy at the desk just kept repeating that the decision had been made. This is obviously the company policy with regard to dissatisfied customers. Later that evening we were up in the pool, along with another small group of conference attendees, at 10 pm a security guard came and threw us all out. When we each made a complaint to the desk we were just told repeatedly that it was company policy. When I asked the women to confirm that company policy was more important than customer satisfaction, she abruptly ended the conversation.

I would adamantly suggest finding another hotel in San Antonio and avoiding Wyndham whenever possible. The waiter, the restaurant manager and a very helpful young woman concierge who helped me load late Saturday night, are the reason I give the hotel two stars not one.

I was at this hotel for a business conference where there were 724 participants in my group, not including the other hotel patrons. Because of the volume of guests, the wifi was incredibly slow and sometimes non-existent. Additionally, the hotel frequently ran out of water and coffee and were slow to refresh these items

I stayed at the hotel for a journalism Confrence and there were many other groups of students there. Housekeeping could not keep up and none of our rooms were cleaned while we were there. There were gnats all over our room and I also found a few ants in the bed and on the phone. Despite the name "on the riverwalk" the hotel doesn't even have an entrance to the riverwalk from the hotel, you have to walk away from the hotel to the entrance. Then you have to walk about half a mile to get to all of the restaurants and things that are in the main area of the riverwalk. If you are looking for somewhere close to the river and impeccable service, this is not your place.
