“Ok place...over priced for now...needs updated, but great food!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in November for a conference. It had just changed owners, so it was going through some rough patches. I arrived at about 5:30 a.m. and the desk clerk was great and found me a room...later in the day the desk clerks got grumpier and less helpful. It pays well to be of good nature, calm, and helpful if you are in the hospitality business...imagine that! All but the two grump lady desk clerks the rest of the folks were great...housekeeping, maintenace (had a problem with only hot no cold water...yeah I know that's different), food service and the chef at the breakfast buffet was very friendly and made the best omlet...wish I could remember his name...he had just started a few months before. It is at the end of the river walk so don't expect to walk on the river walk (canal walk where I come from) and see the bright lights, shops, bars & cafes for about a quater of a mile, but the walk is pleasant! It is a short walk to the down town business area. The conference rooms were great, very clean, the banquet food was good. I'd stay elsewhere if I were a tourist or seeing the sights, but this is great for business traveller...It is too expensive any way you look at it...even though it is nice, it is just too much for what you get...but remember the food is good (now...check back in a few months & let me know)! Oh as far as safety goes...it's a big city, downtown/tourist area, travel in groups, take a cab or stay in your hotel...whatever floats your boat on the River, but do it safe!

Room Tip: Ask for a room looking at the river, but really all of them just look out at a big dirty city!

I got room from pay first site. Clean room is 2 blocks from Riverwalk action. The $14 breakfast buffet was kind of high, but with great omelet station! Awesome deal!

Not a good hotel. Needs a renovation, service poor, and food was not good. While called a "Riverwalk Hotel", it is not on the part where there is anything you think of when thinking "Riverwalk". It is in a bad area where you do not feel very safe.

We stayed here recently on a weekend get-away. Due to the marathon, this was the only hotel on the Riverwalk that was available. The hotel lobby was very nice. Rooms were average. It was clean, but no character and looked like a basic hotel room. The location was very good, we were within walking distance of the Riverwalk and the Alamo. Also, we used AAA, and were able to get free parking in the garage, so that was a nice bonus. I did eat the breakfast buffet in the restaurant, ($10), which was pretty decent - omelet bar, fruit, cereal, baked goods, etc.

Was there this week for a conference. Conf area was good, John at check in was great, hotel food was ok. Room was ok, bed was made terribly, bed was rather hard, my ac worked ok but my friend's room was uncomfortably warm, toilet made a horrible racket-as did another frend's and required a couple of attempts to get it to flush, elevators weren't all working (nor were they last year), the buttons don't stay pushed and it could be a 10 minute wait or longer. the lobby looks nice but there is a lot of work to be done.
