Owner description: Originally a rock quarry, part of the tea garden came from a donation by George W. Brackenridge and another section from Emma Koehler. In 1915 Ray Lambert, city parks commissioner, thought it would make a nice location for a lily pond. Ultimately, it grew to become a tea garden. The latest renovations began in 2007 and cost about $1.6 million, compared with the $7,000 Lambert originally spent to open the park. It is a Registered Texas Historic Landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places.

This garden was a great surprise. It was well maintained. It had a lake, a waterfall and lots of plants and flowers. This is definite must see if you are at Brackenridge park.

I thought the tea garden was very beautiful. Several flowers, large koi pond, gorgeous grounds. While we were there, we saw a bride and some grads getting pictures taken. We spent an hour walking around.

“Didn't live up to expectations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

It's worth a visit. Much used for weddings and events the tea offering was weak, especially since I went out of season.nDifficult to get to on public transport. There is a park nearby with a mini railway, which was a good place to run or just get away from the town.

“Simply beautiful”

A beautiful unexpected oasis right in San Antonio. We were surprised that the gardens weave around, up and down and have real depth.
