“Cool!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

Definately intriguing from outside, and there was a fairly sexy character actor who looked like Billy the Kid or somebody..he definately persuaded me to go in by scaring me to death when I thought he was just a statue! Cool history, my burger was pretty delicious and I was actually surprisingly interested in the museum even though I have no ties to Texas

“Definitely worth the time and $.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

My first thought upon entering this place was that it was pretty expensive for a museum and pretty much accepted I may have been sucked into another tourist trap. Not the case. The lobby area is also a restaurant and bar. Didn't get a chance to try the food, but did get a beer which you can take throughout most of the museum. (Fairly priced.) The museum has three parts. A lot of taxidermy in one (all different animals), a mystery-house type attraction in one part, and a texas ranger museum in another. (A lot of old guns which I found interesting.) Our favorite was the mystery house/sideshow section which I wasn't even aware existed. A lot of fun stuff involving optical illusions and whatnot. The whole family had some good laughs here and took pictures of the stuff that could be captured by camera. We spent at least two and a half hours here, maybe more. I'd definitely recommend checking this place out. It was one of my favorite attractions in San Antonio. ***There are coupons available so look for them.***

“Great location and crowd”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

The location is great for the Riverwalk area with historic vibe. Service was quick and food was better than typical bar quality. The shop had unique Texas gifts. The Buckhorn is worth the time.

“If you love taxidermy, you will love this museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

We attended a conference reception at the Buckhorn and were definitely entertained by the museum and armadillo races. The food was good, the waitstaff was friendly and helpful and those armadillos were a hoot. We could have spent all night in the museums! Not for those who get creeped out by lots of taxidermy, there are thousands of ungulate heads adorning the walls and many rooms of animals from all over. Particularly eye-opening are the rooms of stranger-than-fiction animals with double antlers, double heads and all manner of weird formations. We did enjoy the old-fashioned fun-house quality of the antique museum. A great place for families with some education and Texas grub too.

Thank you so much for your review. It sounds like you attended a private event at The Buckhorn Museum. We work exclusively with Don Strange Catering of Texas and they put on the best events in the city!! The food is wonderful and where else are you going to see armadillo races in downtown San Antonio?! Thank you for commenting on this event, we hope your organization will come back and visit again soon. Happy New Year!

“Kind of weird and funky”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

We were in San Antonio Christmas week and when looking for something to do Christmas Day, we saw Buckhorn was one of the few attractions open. Also, it was within walking distance of our hotel, so that was a plus. Its kind of part natural history museum, part Believe it or Not side show kind of museum and part Texas Ranger museum. Its an odd mix, but an interesting way to spend a couple of hours. We had a drink and quick snack in the bar area before leaving. It was nothing memorable.

I did think the price was kind of steep. With a coupon, it was still $55 for three adults. I realize the tickets are really good for two days, but its not the kind of thing we'd go back and look at again the next day.
