“Best Bed & Breakfast In Salem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2011

From the moment we arrive the hostess treated us like we were the only two people staying there. We felt like we were family member visiting for the night. We were made to feel very welcomed at the Coach House Inn.
The House is located in the charming historic housing district of Salem. The house is tastefully decorated, very warm and inviting. It gives you the feel of stepping back into the early 1880s, but with modern convinces. It is nice waking up after a great night’s sleep to a basket of warm muffins, and fresh fruit. The only bad thing about the Coach House Inn is having to leave. If you’re planning a visit to the Salem area give the Coach House Inn a serious look.

We very much liked this inn. The proprietor was friendly and very helpful. Our room was very clean. We enjoyed the continental breakfast brought to our room every morning. The location was good - we walked downtown in 15 minutes. We would recommend this inn to anyone and would stay here again.

This 1879 mansion is such a cool place to stay in Salem. We had a quiet night stay on the third floor. The room was spacious and clean with a mini fridge which was handy. The breakfast basket was absolutely charming and filled with fruits and pastries/muffins; plus, it was delivered to our door in the morning. Pat, the owner and hostess, was very cordial and knowledgeable. If we find ourself in the area again, we will definitely be coming back.

Neat place. We stayed on the third floor which was a little creepy cause it seemed like there was nobody there. The traffic was very noisy and the room was cold, but breakfast in the morning (delivered to your door) made up for anything bad.

My colleague and I were presenting at Salem State College and thought it best to travel up the noight before. We decided to stay at the Coach Light after reading the reviews on trip advisor. The reviews are accurate. We stayed in a large beautiful room with two twin beds, it was “the best grown up sleep over ever” we decided. The Inn was meticulous and the details in the home of the era in which the house was built are true to character. The most enjoyable aspect of our stay however, was the Inn Keeper herself. She understood when we arrived late due to traffic in Boston for the Bruins parade and suggested a restaurant for dinner. The following day even though we had checked out, she allowed us to leave our vehicle in parking lot so we could walk to the college instead of dealing with event parking. Furthermore, my colleague left her nook on in the room and the Inn Keeper called her to let her know it would be safe guarded until our return. This was a thoroughly enjoyable stay, and it needed to be shared in order to show our appreciation. We plan on taking separate trips back to the Coach House with our families.

My sister and I stayed at the Coach House Inn for four nights. We were in town to visit relatives. The room was very clean and the sheets were changed every day. There was no common room and no dining room, but every morning at 8:30 a big basket of fruit and hot muffins and croissants was outside our door. There was a little nook in our room with a table and two chairs and a coffeemaker. There was plenty of parking. The trolley into Salem goes right by the house, although a person could walk if you liked a long walk. The owner of the B&B was kind and considerate of her guests and gave excellent recommendations for restaurants.

My daughter and I had just finished a solid week of checking out colleges in New England. We arrived at the Coach house early but were warmly welcomed and quickly checked into our beautiful room. It was nice to just relax and not have any type of schedule for a couple of days. The house was very clean and the room spacious. Location was perfect for getting around the area. Each morning at 8:30 am a picnic basket was placed at our door with muffins etc. Only thing I wish we had received were some fresh berries but that's just a personal preference. Would highly recommend.
