All food was perfectly cooked and presentation was neat and attractive. Loved the Lobster bisque. Sandwiches were packed with either meat or tasty combinations. Service was very good.

Dear Susan M,

Thank you for your review of Nathaniel’s. I’m pleased you enjoyed dining with us, and appreciate you taking the time to offer specific recommendations to fellow Trip Advisor readers.

The meal you enjoyed in Nathaniel’s was part of your conference, as we do not usually have Nathaniel’s open to the public for lunch, and our lobster bisque is one of the many offerings on our banquet menus.

We hope to see you again soon.

Warm regards,

Juli Lederhaus

We had dinner this evening at Nathaniel's at the Hawthorne Hotel in Salem, Mass. The food was excellent and the portions were great. Our waiter, Brent O. made the experience even better. He was very helpful, attentive and was very professional. We wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant and ask for Brent O.

Loved the food, hated being left at the entrance wondering where the server was. Would have eaten breakfast here twice, but our first try (on a nice day) there were no other diners, and no server in site. Very unprofessional. On the second day, (raining) we really did not want to venture out into the rain so we waited (and waited) until the young man finally saw us and told us to go ahead and sit anywhere. Would have been nice to have posted that. But the food was excellent, and once we did get seated the service as also excellent. Turned out to be a breakfast worth waiting for.

Dear Wendi P.

Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us exactly how you felt about our lack of a host/ess on the door at breakfast in Nathaniel’s. That certainly should not have been the case, and I can assure you that lessons will be learned within our Dining Services Management team. I would really appreciate knowing what time you tried to dine, as it will help me in assessing what went wrong, and where the responsible management team member might have been at those particular times.

I am happy that you decided to give us a try, and that the food and service were excellent once you got seated. However, you should not have had that kind of experience. I do apologize.

If you will contact me about the timing situation, I can assure you that it will be helpful in making things better for the next time. You can reach me at 978-744-4080, or you can email me at info@HawthorneHotel.com.

Thank you again.

Sincerely,

Juli Lederhaus

My husband and I ate here for a couple of breakfasts on the days we stayed in the Hawthorne Hotel. We also had a leisurely romantic dinner there one night. Every meal was perfect.

Dear c k,

Thank you for your review of Nathaniel’s. I’m pleased you enjoyed dining with us, and appreciate you sharing specific menu recommendations with fellow Trip Advisor readers. The Shrimp and Scallops Sophia served over risotto is always a big hit and it is our signature dinner menu item. The pork tenderloin with lightly pickled blueberries was created just for our summer menu to take advantage of the fresh blueberry season.

I’m sure these menu specifics will be very helpful to those who are not familiar with our restaurant.

We hope to see you again soon.

Best,
