“The Greatest Place in SALEM!!!”

Stephen Daniels House

Jun 30, 2007

My husband and I just returned from a trip to Salem. What a great time we had. Before anyone leaves for there trip please think about what it is you are going there for. If you are going for the history and to experience how they lived in the 1700's then it is a must to stay at the STEPHEN DANIELS HOUSE!!!! First, the owner Kaye will make your stay has comfortable has possible and has a lot of knowledge of the history of Salem and this wonderful beautiful old house. She will tell you stories and believe me this is all you need to experience the old days of Salem! Has for the other attractions, if you plan on staying at the Daniels House you need not go to the "Witches House" nothing there to see. The Witches Museum is a great place to start it tells you the history of the Salem Witches. The House of the Seven Gables is a must, what a wonderful place! The Old Burying Ground is great the head stones are so old it its hard for you to read. Pickering Wharf is a great place to eat and shop, try Finz for dinner the food was excellent and the service was great! So if your planning a trip to Salem...ITS A MUST TO STAY AT THE "STEPHEN DANIELS HOUSE". Mind you its not a five star hotel but what a great experience to stay in house that was built 1667 and it still has all the original floors walls and ceilings. The antiques are breath taking and are real!! Make sure you look in the draws. Say hi to Kaye for us and enjoy her stories and homemade muffins.

“Magical historic antique filled b and b”

Stephen Daniels House

We have just returned from a week at the Stephen Daniels house in Salem Ma. The house is magnificent and we have never experienced such history before. It was so lovely that it was hard to drag ourselves away from the bed and breakfast since it was so busy there, we couldn't wait to get back to the peace and tranquility of the house.
We stayed on the second level of the 1667 yeas old home. We had 1 huge bedroom with working fireplace, a second room for my son with working fireplace and a huge bathroom with working fireplace. Amazing!
My son is 8 and he loved being in such a historic wonder. We only paid $115 per night for all that space, and the bedding was the most comfortable and I had the best nights sleep every night we stayed.

My wife and I are booking a trip to Salem. We had called a few B&B's but they were full. Since the Stephen Daniels House doesn't have a web page I called to get some information on rooms, type of breakfast and openings. After telling me that they had an opening during the time we wanted I asked about the breakfast. I was told it is a continental breakfast. I said thank you. At that time the lady I was talking to became very rude and asked why I called. I stated that I was calling for information because the inn didn't have a web page. She stated that she didn't have a web page. I said that was why I was calling. She asked again why I called and I stated that other B&Bs/Inns are full. She didn't believe me and I repeated the B&Bs/Inn that told me that they were full. She went on to badger me more about why I called. I finally said thank you for the information and sorry I bothered you. She said "Yes" and hung up.
I was calling to get the information so I could tell my wife the ones I thought would be nice. Most of the feedback on this one was very nice. Was going to call back and make reservations but after this I descided to look elsewhere.
Didn't expect southern hospitality but would think that owning a B&B/Inn would require some sort of hospitality.

My mom and I usually go to the Daniels House to start off our favorite holiday, Halloween, the official way, visiting Salem. When we visit there, Kay Gil makes us feel so at home, with her very enchanting, old Salem-ite home and beautiful antique and unique items, her personallity is charming, and she is so informative!!! Everyone should visit Salem, there is just a "Bewitching" air about it, and when you do, definatly look Kay Gil at the Stephen Daniels House up and stay for a "Spell".

If you get a map of Salem, you will not have a problem finding The Daniels House. Be careful of the one way streets though.
You get the feeling of the 17th century immediately when you open the door the this beautiful house. Kay greets you with a smile and Sabrina the cat greets you with a welcoming meow and a run around the house excited by another visitor.
Kay walks you around the rooms of the house and tells the history. There are several articles laying around the common areas if you want to go into depth about the house or just ask Kay. She'll be more than happy to tell you an entertaining story or two.
Kay will also give you good restaurant tips as well so try not to eat until you stop by the house.
The room is quiet and comfortable and filled with antiques everywhere. I felt like a princess in the pink room with the canpoy bed and the fireplace. You definitely get the feel of the town's true meaning and roots while you are in the house. I didn't want to leave ! Be sure to look in the drawers and you will find a surprise !
I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Salem and definitely wouldn't stay in a hotel as you would not get the same feel and hospitality of The Daniel's House.
I can't wait to see you again Kay and thank you again.
