“Great 4th of July Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2014

This hotel has all you can ask for in a full service resort! The pools, separate for the kids and adults were nice! Every time a kid jumped in the adult pool, they were quickly directed to the kid pool! Our room was very spacious and overlooked the golf course. The only negative we had was a barking dog next door very late at night. We spoke with the desk and they attempted to find the guest. We ended up speaking with the guest the following day. I really don't think they had any idea when they left for the evening the dog just barked the entire time.
We had a wonderful dinner in the Azul restaurant, food and service were great! The evening of the 4th they had a laser light show with music that was very entertaining.
All in all a wonderful holiday stay and we will go back for sure! Great for families and adults!

Green Features: This hotel is a leader in environmentally practices. We liked that there were recycle bins in the room for our water bottles.

Stayed for four days. Great property for walking and swimming. Left room at different times yet room always clean when we returned. Resort prices at restaurants but close to reasonable priced places to eat. Red Door Spa steam snd sauna free to guests and separate lap pool for adults.

Had a doctors appointment to go to. So also wanted to spend the night at The Westin La Paloma Resort. The place is huge. Told our son while walking through the resort we might see a lizard or 2 running around. Sure enough, we saw a little guy on a rock doing his push ups. Had some color to him that was real neat looking. Got to the room and changed and went right to the pools. That boy wanted to get right to the slide. He had a blast on it. Then as we was walking back to our room, just down the path from us a bobcat ran across it. He was running fast, bout knee high. But you have to remember that the area is desert, so them and maybe a javelina might be running around. The grounds for the property are pretty to walk through, just have good shoes on a lot of ups and downs on the paths. Very nice place to stay. We will be back.

Room Tip: Second floor or third floor, to be able to see the views.

Thank you for sharing your nature sightings. I’m delighted your son had the opportunity to see our desert wildlife on his way to our pools and slide for some summer fun. I hope to see your family back soon. Stay well, Glenn Sampert, General Manager

In low season, a good value hotel.
On the positive side, the rooms have been recently refreshed and the bathrooms with wood floors and rain shower heads are very nice. The Westin beds also are a plus. Parking is plentiful and in proximity to most rooms. The mountain view rooms with balconies are also a nice choice. In low season, the rates on the suites are quite attractive and the suites are huge! One of the suites can be connected to one or two guest rooms and has a Murphy bed in the living room area which is a much better choice in terms of comfort than a standard pull out sofa bed. The area around the hotel has some great restaurant choices (Blanco was our favorite) and some good shopping.

The negatives...Pool was an absolute mob scene with negligible service. They have a towel stand where you check out towels and nobody helps you find chairs or set them up. We saw a posse of young pool attendants walking around visiting with one another but not helping guests in any way! So, the staff is there but not functioning! Would not consider having a drink at the pool bar after walking over there and seeing the filthy mess and the careless way the drinks were being made.
The spa needs a complete overhaul!!

Room Tip: Request 2nd floor room or suite with mountain views.

Thank you for the positive feedback about the resorts rooms, area, and views. Summer weekends are extremely busy at the resort and the pools are the center of activity. I am sorry that you felt the associates were inattentive and ineffective. While I wish you had a better experience, your detailed and specific feedback is a tool that we can use to train our associates and to improve our service and responsiveness to every guest. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. I would welcome an opportunity to have you as our guest in the future so that we can demonstrate the service and attention to detail that our guests have come to expect from The Westin La Paloma. My fiancée and I stayed at the Westin La Paloma for two nights over the July 4th weekend. The hotel is beautiful and immaculate, and the view of the Catalinas is spectacular. The staff across the resort were fabulous--professional yet friendly and always attentive and helpful. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and well-kept. We loved the Heavenly bed and extra-large bathroom. We took full advantage of the pool area--the adults-only pool and swim-up bar were the highlights. The poolside service was also very nice. On July 4th, however, the seating areas around the various pools were much too crowded (a bit of a zoo). We had dinner and breakfast at the Azul restaurant and enjoyed both meals; the servers were attentive. Overall, we had a great time and look forward to returning.

I have attended several business events at this hotel and always found the facilities to be nice, and suited to various conferences. On this occasion, however, we stayed with out-of-town guests over the 4th of July weekend to take advantage of the pools and waterslide. The rooms were a little larger than average and nice enough. But, our room had no shampoo or conditioner, and one small piece of soap. Housekeeping did not arrive until late afternoon when we were back in the room. The pool area was a disaster. There were so many people that you could not find a piece of grass on which to sit, much less a chair. By the evening laser light show, the area was dirty, overcrowded and the pools were disgusting. The resort seemed completely unprepared for the amount of people attending this event and generally in the pool area. So, I will continue to go for business, but this will not be on our list for a "staycation."

Room Tip: What is advertised as a "pool side" room is not actually that close to the pool. Rather t...

My family (2 adults, 2 teens) had a great time at the Westin last week, and we even extended our stay by a day because we enjoyed the hotel so much. I thought the rooms were beautiful and quiet (with very comfortable beds and pillows, and huge bathrooms), the pools were a lot of fun, and the slide was a really fun bonus. The staff was helpful and polite, though the wait at the reception was a bit long and seemed understaffed at times. The only negative thing during our stay (and this hasn't stopped me from giving a 5 star rating) was that I had to wash my feet a couple of times a day because they got so dirty when I walked barefoot in the room for some time, though the room didn't feel dirty.

Though we didn't take advantage of this service, the hotel will drive their guests to and from certain restaurants that are close by. We thought that was very cool! We did try a couple of the restaurants on the list given to us by the hotel, and we loved them.

The thing that made our stay extraordinary was that my son was allowed to practice on one of the hotel's pianos - we had been away from home for more than 10 days, and my son missed practising terribly. The manager (and I'm so sorry I didn't get his name, but we checked in on Tuesday, July 1) was so kind in understanding how important it was to my son to be able to play, and he made it happen. He really made our stay extra special, and I thank him for going that extra distance for us.

Room Tip: We asked for a room close to the pool, because we knew that we would be going back and forth to our...
