“Beautiful Resort.. An oasis in dry AZ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

My husband and I went here on a little weekend getaway from Fort Huachuca and loved it! The resort had tons of amenities, beautiful grounds, and great accommodations. The room and bathroom were large, clean, and newly renovated. We were able to get a great deal on Priceline that included the resort fee (parking, wifi, pool, and amenities). We definitely recommend the resort to others. Our only negative feedback was the pool had some debris and hair in it as if the filters were not functioning as well but it was nothing to dwell on.

Best: Resort grounds, beds, friendly staff, slide, and priceline deal
Not as good: Pool cleanliness, Pool deck can be slippery (may want to bring water shoes)

Room Tip: As for a newly renovated room

The July 4th stay at the Westin La Paloma Resort and Spa was fun and relaxing. The room was very comfortable with enough room to host a small party for the 6 of us staying there for the night.
Service was slow, but servers were working hard to accommodate the throngs of people at the resort for the holiday. The fastest service was at the pool, the slowest in the lounge where we waited about an hour for our food.
Breakfast at the Courtside Deli was fresh and fabulous. This is a hidden gem next to the tennis courts that people need to know about, especially if you are bringing kids, which we were. The prices were at least half of the other dining options. Very informal, now pretense.
This is a lovely property, in general.

Room Tip: All the rooms are accessible by golf carts driven by employees, but Building E is right next to the...

Thank you for your visit over the July 4th weekend. You are correct, the resort was sold out and our team was working hard to ensure that we maintained our standard of high customer service. We appreciate your understanding and patience given the quantity of guests, and are glad to hear that you discovered the Courtside Deli, which is a wonderful option for our guests.

Love this resort and the upgraded look. Ordered room service for breakfast and portions were large. Next time I will try the courtside deli for breakfast, it has a good menu and prices are reasonable. Spent an entire day at the pool with the family and had a blast on the water slide. Enjoyed lunch and drinks by the pool. Very nice gym and separate lap pool. Hotel staff very friendly and accommodating except for the elderly ladies in the gift shop. Even though they sell toys, they are not friendly towards children or parents of small children so I wasn't going to spend my money there. They would benefit from some education on customer service. Everyone else at the resort truly made me feel like I was on vacation. Wish our stay was longer.

Thank you for sharing how you enjoyed our in-room dining, lunch and beverages at the pool while getting in a few trips down the Slidewinder. I am delighted to read you had a chance to spend a full day of fun and adventure with your family. I hope to see back soon, plan a couple of extra days, to enjoy the amenities you were not able to experience during your recent vacation.

My family and I have had the opportunity to stay at the Westin La Paloma in Tucson each of the last ten summers. It is a part of our summer vacation and they kids have come to expect it. The staff is very accommodating and they try to make you comfortable. The hotel is very clean and the pools are nice. I can't say enough good about this place. It is also very family friendly and have movie nights in the pool on certain days and activities for the kids. They do have a separate pool and lounge area for the adults if you need a break.

Room Tip: If you ask, the staff does all it can to put you where you would like. If you want to be near they...

Thank you for your loyalty to The Westin La Paloma. You have been able to see us renew and rejuvenate over the past year. I now have the same expectation as your children. I expect your family will be staying with us every year. I look forward to seeing you during the summer of 2014 for more pool time.

I've stayed here several times over the years. In 2012, this resort went into bankruptcy and was taken over by a new Group. It shows: what was once a high class family friendly place that wasn't too "Disneyland" has now become a haven for clubsters with a wannabe hollywood bent and a decidedly "Las Vegas Yuppies" clientele. Service is accommodating and friendly. Unfortunately they also do apologize a lot (!) about inconveniences like broken bathroom fixtures, rowdy guests at the pool, etc... instead of simply providing a nice, pleasant environment, as you would expect.

Thank you for returning to us Timtimster2 and I am sorry to hear that you feel that we have changed. Our new owners have rejuvenated our iconic Tucson resort with more than $35M in improvments, however our same great Westin team is still in place. We were definitely busy over the July 4th holiday and I am sorry if the experience was not what you expected. We hope that you will come back and see that we are still the great family resort that you loved. Be Well, Glenn
