“If only the floors were more solid.....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

This is a beautiful property, even during the current renovation. You might want to call and make sure any particular resort amenity that you're interested in is functioning. We were staying because it is close to a friend's house and didn't care about the spa, etc.
The renovated room was beautiful, bathroom great. The problem for us is that the sound travels from the floor above. Whoever had the room above was not a great sleeper and woke us up. Management was very solicitous, and we moved to a top floor room. That solved the problem, but we noticed that we were making plenty of noise when we stepped on our floor. Seems like a construction problem. Or we're just overly sensitive.

Room Tip: This is a spread out place, so make sure you know what you're getting into if walking a distance...

“Friendly and Efficient Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

We were very impressed by how friendly the staff were at this hotel, starting with the valet service that took care of parking and taking us and our luggage to our room in a nice large golf cart. Room service was prompt, and we agreed that it was some of the best food we had ever ordered for room service. We were celebrating a special occasion, and Erik Karlsen, the Guest Service Manager, did a great job of helping us out in that regard. The next morning, breakfast in the main dining room was also top-notch, wth excellent service. Definitely looking forward to returning!

Room Tip: The suites are quite spacious, with a separate large den/dining room, fireplace, and excellent views...

“Outstanding Experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2012

We had a meeting at the Paloma. The entire staff (Valet, Front Desk, Maintenance, Housekeeping, Catering and Banquet) was friendly and very accommodating. Donal the Catering Manager assisted me to make all the arrangements with the meeting room setup, the meals and snacks. All Donal's suggestions were excellent. The banquet staff led by Banquet Manager, Peter Mnatzaganian were so timely and professional. The meals were delicious, compliments to the Chef. Peter had great follow-up, anything we asked for was received immediately. I had an opportunity to meet Juana of housekeeping because she had just cleaned my room. Juana took such care of my belongings and left the room immaculate. La Paloma is very fortunate to have such customer service oriented and professional team. Everyone, I encountered were so friendly and helpful. I plan on visiting La Paloma again on a personal basis. I loved it.

Room Tip: Currently the rooms are undergoing a renovation. some of my colleagues stayed in the renovated room...

“Great visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

We had the opportunity to spend a night at the Westin La Paloma, we were in Tuscon visiting family and spent a night in the Paloma. The young lady at check-in was very friendly happy to help, our room was not ready upon arrival she directed us to the pool so the kids could swim while we waited. She called us about 1/2 later to inform us the room was ready. While at the pool we met Orlando who was full of information and very energetic. He made us aware of the tennis courts and took the time to explain the great golf available at the hotel, he also served us at the pool. Nice Kid! Our room was older, however very clean and spacious great views of Tucson. My son said it was the "best hotel he ever stayed in"
Overall this was a very pleasent experience!

Room Tip: The pool and the slide are great for the kids. If you play tennis take advantage of the courts.

“Comments on a recent conference”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

Our annual conference took place at the Westin La Paloma in early November, 2012. We are a small professional organization with average attendance of only 160, but there are lots of moving parts to the program of events. We schedule a large number of educational breakout sessions during the three-day conference along with a number of catered events and a golf tournament. That’s who we are in brief, and having established that, here is my brief review of our experience.

The property has a stunning location with a backdrop the nearby Santa Catalina Mountains. It is immaculately groomed, and the renovated rooms are comfortably bright and contemporary. We were glad for surrey transportation around the expansive grounds, but nothing is more than a comfortable walk away – the golf club, spa and tennis courts, for example.

We ate well and were very pleased with the quality and presentation of the catered meals. The menus are imaginative and did not disappoint. It was very helpful for our slim budget to have some flexibility! Everything on property was presented and served with grace and style.

The Westin La Paloma staff, with rare exceptions, worked hard to ensure our comfort as individuals and as a group. Though the resort is undergoing renovation, there was no disruption to our program of events, and very limited construction noise. I am struck by the sincerity, the kindness and generosity extended to all of us at every turn. Perhaps longevity has something to do with the level of service and professionalism— whatever the reason, one senses almost familial bonds amongst the staff. Communication between resort personnel is impressive, making them seem clairvoyant. Their efforts were certainly well-coordinated. Standout performers Nancy La Viola, Catering Sales Manager; Dawn Glass, Senior Group Reservations Coordinator, Banquet Managers Kyle Fellowes and Peter Mnatzaganian; and Wally Dravenstott, Package Center Coordinator, all exhibited the highest level of professionalism and more than capably led teams of wonderful and attentive staff as they moved us seamlessly through our range of activities between check-in and check-out. This review would be incomplete without special mention of Peter Mnatzaganian’s omnipresent care and kindness – he anticipated every need and very likely neutralized trouble before it could develop. Who knows? Such was the finesse with which he shepherded an ailing me through management of the conference.

Westin La Paloma is on our short list for future annual meetings.
