“Spiffy place to stay, nice staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2014

My wife unfortunately needs a hip replacement so we will need to be in Tucson for a week or two post op. We wanted to check out this place as they have a nice set up for people with disabilities. We contacted Stacy the site manager and she was good enough to give us a nice room rate for our pre op doctor visit.

The King suite is basically a one bedroom apartment. Very nicely appointed and spacious, the room and really the facility are immaculate. We were a little disappointed that there was no cooktop, as we anticipated being homebound, if you will, for our time post op. But really the small refrigerator and small microwave should suffice when you consider that you have breakfast onsite, and then lunch and dinner really can be delivered from many good places nearby. We probably would have little desire to prepare a full meal anyway, and I am sure from a fire safety perspective, it behooves the hotel to avoid people burning a bunch of food on a stove.

This is a very nice place to stay at a fair rate. The only negative I can pinpoint is the parking, which seems sparce but there are a number of different entrances that are convenient no matter where you park.

Room Tip: Actually nice city views facing south, and I understand the north facing rooms have a great view of...

First, it was a bit difficult getting to the hotel from a north direction because you have to do a U-turn past the hotel and then watch out for the entrance coming up. The area wasn't exactly the nicest area, but it felt pretty safe at the hotel and the Tucson mall is only a few miles away.

Entering the lobby, the hotel looks vastly different from outside. It seems to be recently renovated and looks quite nice. The breakfast was good as usual at Hampton Inn level and there are fans to keep the breakfast area/lobby cool, though it can also make it too cold. What one has to be most careful about is which elevator is chosen. The two sides of the hotel are not connected so if you choose the elevator on the wrong side, you have to go back down to the lobby to get to the correct side.

Now for the rooms. The room wasn't lying about having a nice view as there were no buildings to obstruct our view of the mountains/mini-mountains (?) and the general area. There was a ceiling fan in addition to the air-conditioning which was helpful when we wanted some extra cooling in the hot Arizona weather. The beds had three pillows, but they were plushy and interestingly were square. Unlike the other hotels we visited on the trip, this room was the only one where there was no microwave or fridge. Not a big deal, but a luxurious amenity I had liked. The cleanliness was OK.

Room Tip: Each elevator goes to a different side of rooms and does not connect. Pick the correct elevator!

The hotel is quiet even though it is large. It is in a great location with plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Tucson Mall and more restaurants are a few miles to the south. Enjoyed sitting on the beautiful patio in the morning and evening. The staff was great and helpful. As always the coffee is the best and the breakfast choices are numerous. Love the oatmeal and toppings!

Had a couple days in Tucson visiting family and these was the perfect stay. Room was great - super clean, comfy, modern and bathroom was equally as nice. The property itself was great and I really enjoyed the inside decor. Most hotels are so standard with decor and this was just a little different so it added a little something. Staff was super friendly and made us feel immediately welcomed. It was a great location to where we were visiting in Tucson and to all the places we wanted to see. Hotel is close to restaurants, fast food, gas stations, shopping, etc. Would certainly stay here again the next time I am in Tucson.

I stayed here for business. They have a lot of problems with their key entry system and kept blaming me for my key card not working. It wouldn't even work for the maintenance support. The door systems are old and worn out as are the key cards they issue.
They have a nice breakfast, but they put bacon or ham in everything they can making it a put off for people that don't eat those meats.
Overall a nice place to stay for one night, but not for a week.

Room Tip: Parking is limited so keep that in mind. Check your key card on an exterior door or the business ce...

We have stayed at this hotel several times and it is consistently good. Central location to where we want to be, Starbucks across the street, Dairy Queen next door, close to shopping. Good family place to stay, clean rooms and grounds and mostly friendly staff. Breakfast is always good.
