If you need to be in east Tucson, this Hilton is perfect. The staff goes out of their way to make everything the way you want it; the rooms clean and comfortable, and the price is w-a-a-y lower than the rest of Tucson. The mountain views are terrific, too. What's not to like?

The Hilton Tucson East is a newer property with an excellent view of the Catalina Mountains. I thought I would have a nice relaxing weekend in a suite on the executive level with an outdoor patio. Instead we left as soon as we could Sunday morning, exhausted.

My first inkling of the staff's concern for guests was when we were wheeling our luggage to the room. A maid had created a big mound of sheets and towels in the hall right next to her cart, blocking the hall. As we walked up and stopped she just looked at us, no smile or hello, and watched as I had to move the dirty sheets and linens over enough to walk by. Not a big deal but weird.

When we got back to the room around midnight we were getting ready for bed the toilet suddenly overflowed soaking the room and carpeting. The manager came and mopped up but didn't give us a different room as we requested. He did say this is not what we expected in a stay and would adjust our bill (he didn't). They did nothing about the carpeting that had absorbed the less than pure liquid and gave the room a slight odor. And even after that, the toilet usually cycled water through but stayed full when you flushed instead of emptying and refilling, which meant you stood there watching on guard. In the morning I went to the bathroom by the pool because I didn't want to risk starting the day the way the night ended.

The bill came and there was no adjustment. We called the front desk and I didn't hear "I am sorry you had a problem," instead the desk clerk said "what kind of adjustment do you expect?" Not what I expected or wanted to hear. Take care of me, don't make me negotiate with you on Sunday morning after too little sleep because of a hotel caused problem.

Bottom line - nice building, but don't expect the staff to go out of way for you, especially if you have a problem. They ruined our weekend get away, hopefully if you do book nothing goes wrong for you (usually it doesn't). And avoid 644 -- I doubt they were going to shampoo the squishy carpet.

Thank you for your review. We strive to exceed expectations with each and every guest, but we missed the mark with you. Despite on-going preventative maintenance, sometimes equipment breaks during a stay and I'm sorry your toilet broke during your stay. Your toilet was fixed promptly and I was able to confirm that you received two rate adjustments--one from the night manager and one at the front desk during your check out. We apologize about the inconvenience you experienced.

Definitely would recommend this hotel. The price is right and the view of the Catalina mtns from the room was very nice. The bed was very comfy and the staff very courteous. Bathroom is very small but serves the purpose so no real issue. Only recommendation to hotel is to have the windows cleaned so as not to obstruct the beautiful view! Traffic is bad in Tucson especially if you try to get to the hotel via Broadway. We found it better to come across Kolb from I-10 as Broadway is under construction at the time we visited. We did the wine country so heading across Kolb and then connecting with I-10 was ideal...don't forget to take in El Fuente for some awesome Mexican food and fantastic mariachis while here.

Room Tip: ask for a room on the upper floors facing the Catalina mountains

Be aware that this Hilton is located out in the urban sprawl of Tucson. If you are visiting Tucson by car, it will be difficult to get to places of interest. Due to Tucson's horrendous street traffic and long traffic signal cycles it takes about 25-30 minutes to get to the nearest freeway (Interstate 10) or to downtown historic Tucson. One would be smarter to get a place closer to Tucson's attractions and not have to endure sitting in traffic..

It is not situated in a pretty location. The hotel is surrounded by stores and strip malls. We had a room in the front and had a "beautiful" view of Home Depot right across the street!

However, the hotel itself is quite beautiful and well maintained. It has plenty of free parking and offers free internet access. It's pool area is quite nice. It's a shame that it is not located in a nicer area.

If you are traveling with a pet, be aware that the hotel has a non-refundable pet deposit of $50!

Thank you for your review. You are correct, we do have a nonrefundable pet fee to cover the additional room cleaning cost for pets. The cost and terms are outlined on the confirmation email. We are pleased you enjoyed the hotel and our facilities. Thank you for your compliments. While many guests enjoy our location, I'm sorry you didn't.

This was our second visit to the Hilton Tucson East. Our first visit was so positive that it was without hesitation that I rebooked this hotel. The Front Desk was efficiently manned by Linda, aka Mama Hilton, who facilitated a quick and friendly check-in. Our room on the 7th floor Executive level met all expectations. Housekeeping services were impressive, even providing a bucket of ice each afternoon without being asked. If you stay at this hotel, I recommend you take a moment to stop by the Bell Desk and have a chat. The gentleman there is delightful. I also should mention this hotel has convenient and free parking. This hotel is really a great value for your money.

Room Tip: For both of my stays, my room was on the 7th floor.

Very nice hotel in the nicer part of Tucson. Clean rooms and helpful staff. Plenty of parking. Price is a bit steep for Tucson, but still a good value. The Queen beds seemed a bit small. A number of smokers out by the jacuzzi...it would be nice if the hotel disallowed smoking on hotel grounds, or at least clean up all the butts on a regular basis.

Stay away from the restaurant; service is nonexistent, at best. Fortunately, it's just a short walk to a grocery store; in fact, we saw many people carrying in groceries for their room.

We would stay there again.
