“Holiday Inn Palo Verde, Tucson - Stay Away”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2006

Holiday Inn Palo Verde, in Tucson, Arizona, April 2006. Not a good experience, try somewhere else. We left a nice tip for the room cleaning staff. They took the money and didn’t clean the room! The pool area is beautiful – an oasis of lush grass, trees and birds. Unfortunately, we could not swim in the beautiful pool – it was full of dirt, leaves and trash! Also, the pool area chairs were broken, and there was trash and dirty towels everywhere. I could see hotel staff walking by the mess and ignoring it. The breakfast buffet ran out of food in the morning. They left bottles of water in the room for which they charged $3.50 per bottle, so be very careful if you have children and move the bottles out of their reach before they open them. Also, the in-room movies were $13.99 per movie. The front desk management was both unhelpful and unapologetic. They had decent room service at a reasonable price, and the restaurant was clean and the food was fairly good. However, due to the above problems, combined with the unhelpfulness of the hotel management, I honestly cannot recommend this place at all.

This is the place to stay if you just want a warm pool and a hot jacuzzi to relax in after a day on the town. However, if you're looking for a room on par with the Marriott, Hilton, or even Holiday Inn "at these prices" you better keep looking. The rooms are comprable to Motel 6 or Budget 8. P.S. - The free breakfast is decent and pick you a grapefruit from the tree by the pool!

Stayed there because it was close to Electric Park to see White Sox spring training. NEVER AGAIN !! Room was dirty, stains on furniture and bedspreads. Other sites said problems here were fixed, but dont believe it. Spend a little more & go somewhere else !!!

This hotel is old and offers very little for anyone staying there. We checked in at 3 PM and went directly to our room. When we opened the door, the room was not cleaned yet. We had to go back to the front desk where we were offered an upgrade for the inconvenience. When we got to the upgraded room it was the exact same type of room, just on the pool side. The room is nothing to write home about. Old is the best description. Carpet was filthy, and bathroom lacked full water pressure. Bedding was clean, pillows were like flat pancakes but since we were only there to sleep and shower, we decided to tolerate the few problems. We got a very reasonable price on the room with a coupon that was in an area Tucson flyer. Our family lives there and provided us the coupon. I guess you get what you pay for.

..Than ever stay here again! They have different tiered rooms and the "B" tier wouldn't be considered 1 star. After looking at three rooms, I gave up and took the 4th. Bathroom door broken - couldn't close, heavy mirrored closet doors off track and dangerous, air conditioner cover fell off in the middle of the night, exposing a good size view of the great outdoors. Sheets ripped, bedspread nasty. I sat in the lobby all night while my family slept - if we didn't have an early soccer game (and a 9 year old who wanted to stay with his team), we would have been gone. The free breakfast consists of eggs and potatoes. Pay for coffee, cereal - what a rip-off! Front desk said breakfast started at 7:30am, so we all went to McDonalds at 7am only to be told on our return that our "free" breakfast started at 6:30am. 2nd day the front desk had an "A tier" room for me. It was a solid 1 1/2 star - 2 star room...but what about all the people who get stuck in the nasty rooms...Please don't make my mistake! When I told the owner my complaints, he said "Sorry, I try my best" - that ain't sayin' much!

We booked a room for 4 people. When we arrived the room was dirty. The sliding glass door was broken. The ajoinig room door knob was broken. The beds were broken down. The shower head had black mold on it. The lounge chair for the patio had not been washed down for a long time. They had bird droppings all over the. The lobby was the only thing that was kept up. This was one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in. We stayed one nite then drove to Chandler AZ which was about 1 1/2 hrs away. The know how to treat customers with great service and clean rooms.

I had made reservation several weeks in advance and had received a very good rate. We drove 10 hours to be told that our reservation was for the previous night and they had charged our credit card. The clerk advised that they did have a room and would credit the card, however had to talk to the Manager. After talking to the Manager the clerk told us that now they didn't have a room!! We asked to talk to the Manager, but couldn't. This was a busy week for Tucson and all the hotels were full. Bottom line is we had a great rate and they could rent the room to someone else for a lot more. Which we found out later was a common practice for Ramada. I know I made the reservation for the right night and had documentation to prove it. Also, they said they charged our credit card the previous night, but they didn't. Why? Because the reservation wasn't for the previous night it was for that night. We drove to Tucson and stayed at the Best Western where they treated us great.
