“One night stay - never again”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

The staff was very pleasant and the bed wasn't bad. I can see why their published rate on hotels.com is so low. The hotel is terribly out of date and dirty. Common areas were disgusting. The rooms were a little better. Thankfully we were only there for one night before our flight back home. The owners of this property should put some money into upgrades, cleaning and maintenance. Thank goodness my hsband knows HVAC, he had to clean the a/c units in the 3 rooms we had to get them to work.

I've been to a Quality Inn before (Elko, NV) and it was nice, so I thought this one would be fine as well, but I was mistaken.
This is a very, *VERY* old hotel with very poor maintenance. Once you enter the room you instantly see and feel it.
They advertise there's internet connection in rooms, but it only works in certain areas. First I was given a room at probably the farthest corner of the building, there was no connection from there. I talked to the guy at the front desk, who was not too happy with my request. Oh well...

The worst part of all is that my hotel room entrance door was left ajar twice within the 2 week period. Closing the door was not easy, you have to slam it, otherwise it won't close. But it doesn't mean they should just leave it not only open but ajar. I kept all my valuables with me all the time, making my business trip way more inconvenient.

Ah, almost forgot. No water for a day... Awesome, right?

I would definitely not recommend this place!

Room Tip: If you need to stay at this hotel (try to avoid at all cost!), request a room on the front desk side...

The room was moderately clean but in severe need of modernization and renovation. The AC was very old, noisy and ready to fall off of the wall. It ran very loudly and did not keep the room below about 80 degrees. The door did not securely close and you could see light around most of the door seal. The breakfast was pretty good and included waffles eggs (HB and scrambled) sausage, yogurt, sweet rolls, cereal, juices, etc. The WIFI was very weak in the rooms and did not consistency stay online. The lamp did not work in the room and when the front desk person was advised of this, their answer was you really don't need that light anyway, do you.? He said he will make a note to maintenance and get it fixed sometime in the future. It was never fixed during the time I was there. (1 night) I chose this Quality Inn because I have used Quality Inn (Choice Hotels) many times and had no problems and they did include an Airport shuttle service. The location of this hotel is terrible. It is located in an industrial, sketchy section of South Tucson and with nothing around except Arby's and a McDonalds. No sidewalks and just a busy 40 MPH 4 lane streets. It was very had to get anywhere if you were on foot. Bus # 11 does have a stop near by but the Tucson transit is quite complicated to use and there would always but you on hold at there customer service number. The location of this hotel was very poor for anything other than just a night’s sleep. This hotel does not fit its title of Quality Inn.

The desk help were friendly and so were the "breakfast" set up personnel. That's it. Managements hours are such that they insure that they are NOT available when you would be in the hotel. We were told that they come in "around 10" and leave "around 4". Great, especially if you are on vacation and need to talk to them about any concerns. Our's was simple: they forgot to make up our room. Nice - we returned at midnight to find the room untouched. Their excuse was that we had a "do not disturb" sign in the door. We did, from 9 to 9:30 am while we were at breakfast, and removed it when we left for the day. The best was the night before we were checking out: We returned to the hotel at about 10:30 only to hear music BLASTING. We were in the parking area and had no idea where it was coming from. It was a few doors down from us. When we called the front desk they said: oh yes there is a party going on. You were advised when you booked were you not? No we were not! Well then, what do you want us to do? change your room? What a joke. You get what you pay for - this place is anything but a bargain. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere. Oh yes, the desk told us when we left that "management" would call us within 2 days to discuss our stay as they were very concerned. Right! Did they call you?, they didn't call us.

Room Tip: Choose anywhere but here!

We have stayed at this particular hotel since it was a Ramada approx. 10 years ago. Since then its been the Palo Verde Inn and now a Quality Inn......ironically, it is missing the "quality" part. The day manager and evening gal were super nice and it was super quiet there and those are the only reasons I rated it a 2. I asked about the upgrades that supposedly had done to some of the rooms and were told that some were good but the ones on the far side of the pool were still really bad. Upon check-in, we found it to be clean but didnt impress us with any special upgrades. The hotel building has been going downhill for years. It was freshly painted and it looked as if a new, but tiny, wall AC had been put in. It was adequate when the temp was 85-90 when we were there but there is no way it would have kept up in the 100-110 degree weather that Tucson gets in the summer. I noticed in the bathroom that there were several fruit flies/large gnats flying around. The bathroom light had a exposed wire running from it to the wall and there was tissue stuck in the hole around the wire to plug it. We were supposed to have free wi-fi and it never worked, even after telling the front desk about it. Some of the outlets didnt work and others were missing face plates. I mean, really! How much does a face plate cost? 27 cents?? The bed was one lumpy mess with no box springs that slanted towards the wall. Although 7 premium channels were promised, we got only 2 and that was of the 10 total channels we got. I heard other guests complaining at the front desk that their door was broken and they couldnt get in....another said that they felt like the ceiling was going to fall down on them. There was also a storm drain near our parking space that was spewing foul smelling green slime. I do have to say that I loved the huge fluffy pillows though! If that was a refurbished room, I would HATE to see the other ones! RUN! Run FAR away from this place...you just cant spit-shine a turd! :/ Oh yeah, neither jacuzzi were operating correctly when we were there. One had heat but no bubbles, the other had bubbles but no heat..lol. Pool was a little dirty but still refreshing....had to ask for towels.

This is a big elephant which is getting old. Rooms need remodeling, however, the bed was not bad and it was clean. Bathrooms are old, boxy tv, old carpets and it seemed there was no one else in this humongous place...little scary. Somehow the pictures look nice on the website but in reality it has potential if renovated. The from desk guy was friendly but was constantly on his cell phone talking in Spanish and would ask them to hold and help you...he was friendly but...
Breakfast was not good compare to other quality inn we have stayed. The business center computer did not work. Pool looked fine but we did not use it.
