“Four days in Tucson for a bridge tournament”

We have stayed here many times because of the bridge tournaments. We are in the suites near the pool and the rooms are terrific. We did have trouble with the toilet not full flushing, but the maintenance crew are terrific. Everett who handles the food services is top notch. He goes out of his way to make sure the customer is served.

Below it asks what sort of trip. It is business for my husband (He directs at the bridge tournament) and it is pleasure for me (I play bridge).

Room Tip: Choose the suites near the pool! We are on the second floor and it is perfect for us.

This is a great hotel. The staff is amazing and the rooms are clean. Just what we needed. I felt like if i was at home and I could not ask for anything more from a hotel. The breakfast is good and the attentivenss at the bar was perfect. A little too cold to swim, but the pool area looked nice and clean.

The STAFF WAS GREAT.... BUT unfortunatly the first room was horrible and it was a Junior Suite I was told. Pics to prove it. 1.The room had the wall paper pealing badly from the window sill 2. the carpet was badly stained and dirty in multiple locations 3. Stains on the walls 4. Dust in very visiable areas (I would understand behind the end tables ect but this was other places) 5. The bathrooms have very poor ventalation causing water condensation on ceiling but if not wiped down it caused a brown ooze from the ceiling and top of bathroom door (it looked like TAR from a chain smokers house). When I pointed it out t the Manager that night she was able to wet a washcloth and wipe the stain off. This should be caught by the mait staff or house keeping when it starts to show. 6. The roof looked like it had been in an earth quake.

I was able to peak in a couple of rooms as I walked by and the looked in thje same repair.

The Manager Did make it right and moved us but it also had dust where it shouldnt be and the brown ooze.

AS I said the staff was GREAT from check in to check out. The manager that night bent over backwards to make things right, she moved us to a suite and bought us a dinner (WE WOULD HAVE BEEN HAPPY WITH ANY CLEAN AND KEPT ROOM).

I don't blame the staff that I delt with, they were great and what I would expect from a Holiday Inn.. Thet were great and the food was teriffic....

But the property owner needs to address the condition of the rooms very soon. although the staff is great I can not recommend this hotel because somebody else might get one of the poor kept rooms. Like I said the pool and lobby are just like the pics on their web site. Its not fair to the staff to have to rent rooms that need work.

While I personally, didn't stay at the hotel....lots of our members did and they were quite satisfied with the graciousness of the staff.
We all met in the lobby, which was absolutely gorgeously decorated for Christmas!
Stunning especially in the evening with the lighting and fountain.
The long restroom with 2 entrances is such a terrific idea. Several of our members are elderly and appreciated the handicapped parking/bathrooms and all those extra touches the staff provided.
One person accidently lost his car keys and they were retrieved (we don't know who) and kept in the safe and retrieved....with gratitude.
Everett Lewis was the server at our table on Wed. evenings dinner.
We were all impressed with his attentiveness, efficiency, and respectful way of serving ladies first etc. He anticipated our desires before we even knew we needed anything.....there he was! Very polite and noticeably a "cut above the rest" as we had ample time to experience several other of the wait-staff at other dining events.
We must admit though....that Saturday evening annual USS AZ banquet had a wait-staff that was lacking in comparison. We realize there were several other events going on at the same time that possibly contributed but-- Poor service, lack of bread and butter plates (they finally brought out saucers instead!) They did not even have carafes of coffee to pour from so they had to hand carry each of our cups back to the kitchen and fill them with coffee! One member said it was instant coffee! Not even a serving tray to bring them out on! Food (pork was dry and not warm) most of us did NOT like the "gravy"?? and much was thrown away ;-(
To end on a positive note.....we will definitely return again next year as this hotel was superbly located, clean, with mostly delightful staff.

This hotel really needs to be updated. Both the rooms and the common areas scream "1970s". On the other hand, the room was adequate and the service was friendly. I paid around $50 including all fees and taxes, through priceline. For that money, I felt like it was a good deal. For the rack rate, I am less certain.

We ended up here via the Priceline option of a good price, general location, pet friendly, but actual hotel unknown. We were very nicely surprised. They have a restaurant on site which was perfect. We rolled in late and they were open till 11. Husband stayed in the room with the dogs while son and I ate and took back husband's "to-go". Shower was superb. There was a $25 fee for the dogs which we did not know in advance. It made the cost equal to La Quinta where they do not charge, but overall a better deal because of better beds, pillows, bathroom and location. Desk person got us a perfect ground floor no-smoking room near the door for ease with the dogs. I guess all of the dogs in the place behaved because it was absolutely a quiet night.

Flew into Tucson for a short stay for a memorial service. It was a quiet weekend with apparently not much going on around the area. Staff was courteous, room was clean if a little tired around the edges. There were a few group events in the conference room, but apparently not enough to cause the hotel restaurant or bar to be open during the day, which was an inconvenience for a very tired traveler. It was convenient to the airport, and was able to accomodate all of our extended family, which was a plus. Price was pretty reasonable.
