“Great Beds!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2007

This hotel is pretty standard as far as Hampton Inns go. Free breakfast and fridge/microwave located in the room. What really made my stay were the beds. The down comforters and pillows made for a great night sleep. In fact I had the best night sleep I have had in a hotel! Also, for being close to an airport, this hotel was remarkably quiet.

We stayed here in April of 07. One can always depend on a good solid stay. Shuttle was great to the airport and they even had brown lunch bags packed with breakfast items for us because the breakfast had not started in the hotel. Staff very nice!

The Hampton Inn Tucson Airport is a solid hotel. The rooms were clean and relatively spacious, with a very comfortable bed and a nice microwave/refrigerator combination. The shower had good water pressure and the sink vanity leaves lots of room for storing your toiletries. The pool and hot tub are in a nice secluded courtyard.
The complimentary breakfast was very good, with a new hot selection each day, juices, a variety of fresh fruit, breads, cereals, etc. The 24 hour/day freshly brewed coffee in the lobby and the evening cookies are nice touches. Each and every member of the staff that we encountered was very friendly and helpful.

This Hampton Inn is located just outside the Tucson Airport. It was convenient for us since we were going to games at Tucson Electric Park, about 10 minutes away. The location was great for that or if you want to be near the airport. Otherwise the area is very unremarkable and not near many restaurants, shops, etc.

Stayed five nights in March 2007 at $116/night, single. Room was on the small side but heavily furnished. King Size bed was very comfortable - linen could be changed at the option of the guest. Bathroom area was clean; plenty of towels and toiletries.
Bathtub was good sized with a plastic shower curtain. Water temperature had to be set to maximum for shower/bath comfort.
Refrigerator was goodsized with a freezer compartment, both located under a microwave oven.
Swimming pool was advertized as heated but was cold.
Plenty of parking on one side and in back of hotel. Some aircraft noise with hotel located 5 minutes distant from the city airport and an AirForce base.
Casino about 10 minute drive away. Bank and supermarket about 5 minute drive away at intersection of Campbell/Irvington.
Restaurants 5 minutes away on Valencia.
The only thing close to the hotel were other hotels.

I have stayed at this Hampton Inn on a few occasions, most recently in March 2007, and will stay there again on future visits. This is a clean, comfortable hotel, with plenty of parking and friendly service. Also has free wifi. It's just a couple minutes from the airport, but there is no airport noise to speak of. Tucson is a spread-out metropolitan area, so there isn't really one area of town that is convenient to everything you'll want to do and see here. That being the case, the Hampton Inn is as good a location as any, whether you drive or fly to Tucson.

I've had the good fortune to stay at many Tucson hotels, including most of the upscale ones, for both business and vacation. I'm probably not the only traveler who is happy to pay top dollar for a really terrific hotel experience - but who has little patience for expensive hotels that seem to be coasting along on past reviews, trying to get by with mediocre or snooty service at a property that could use some renovation (say, for example, Loews Ventana Canyon, where I also stayed on this trip). That's not the case at the Hampton Inn, where they earn their good reputation every day. As a result, the two-star Hampton Inn outranks most of the glitzier hotel options in Tucson in the TripAdvisor ratings. Don't take my word for it, though - see for yourself.

We stayed for two nights as part of a two-week driving tour. I was a little concerned about proximity to the airport (it is right across the street) but TripAdvisor participants were correct in their assessment of the hotel.

We stayed on Hilton Honours points and at 10,000 points a night this is an excellent deal. As others have noted, the rooms are quiet, clean, well furnished and equipped. There is a nice, secluded pool area. Breakfast was excellent both mornings although, like most Hamptons, you might have to wait for a table. The staff were particularly helpful and friendly with a special mention to Jacqueline in the breakfast area. The parking area had lots of space and was well lit.

This hotel is in the south of Tucson and you definitely need a car to get around. All the major attractions are a far distance (the Desert Museum is 14 miles) but access to the I-10 and I-19 in particular is quick and it is easy to get around outside of rush hour.

The only problem we encountered were a couple of inconsiderate guests who monopolized the business center (which is really a computer in the breakfast area). I mentioned this to the staff, and the need to monitor use of the Internet. They seemed surprised and said it had not happened before. In any event, I think all hotels need to establish a time limit in the business centers and montor them carefully.

We chose this location because it was convenient to the casino where we attended a great concert! The public areas of the hotel were well-kept and there was ample parking convenient to our room.

The room was nice. There was a combination refrigerator / microwave unit which came in handy for chilling drinks to pack along on our travels about the area. The bedding was clean and very comfortable; the pillows were thick yet soft. The only (minor) issue was with the bathroom. There was a musty smell around the shower, and the door tended to stick in the frame. It wasn't a great inconvenience, as running the exhaust fan helped clear the odor.

The rest of the hotel was top-notch. The free breakfast was good, with a different hot entree every morning, plus the usual assortment of breakfast fare. The outdoor pool and hot tub area was great! There were tables and umbrellas that provided shade. The pool was clean, but didn't seem to be over-chlorinated. The hot tub was set at a comfortable temperature, and the jets were invigorating (unlike most hotels where a rolling boil is the only setting available). We swam and soaked during the middle of the day and remained very comfortable.

This hotel is literally just a few blocks from the airport - we almost drove past it coming out of the terminal area. However, the only time we noticed any airport noise was when we were standing in the parking lot. The neighborhood surrounding the hotel is basically other hotels and a lot of off-airport parking. We had a rental car, and access to I-10 and I-19 was easy. You are on the south side of town, so getting around Tucson can take a few extra minutes. The main thoroughfares are mostly four and six lane roads.

Overall, this hotel is a good value for the price, and I'd recommend it!
