By chance we happened on the El Presidio Inn and couldn't have been luckier. The inn is a beautifully restored old adobe property located in a historic district adjacent to downtown Tucson with easy access to museums and restaurants. The buildings surround a lovely quiet shaded couryard complete with fountain, trees, flowers, and birds. It truly is a private slice of paradise that invites one to sit and linger with a good book. The spotless rooms are nicely furnished with antiques, and the beds are most comfortable and well made up. Patti, the owner and gacious hostess, treats one as a long lost friend and is full of helpful information, recommendations, and tips. In addition, her delicious family style breakfasts are a great start for the day. We shall definitely return to Tucson if for nothing other than the privilege and joy of staying with Patti again, although Tucson and its surrounds have a lot to beckon us back.
