True this hotel has been renovated but we were not overly impressed. The room we were assigned had a shower only with shower mount for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The conditioner was empty. Found this out After washing my hair. Ear plugs are provided, assuming they are for any train noise, however, we had to use them because other guests sat outside their rooms talking and laughing loudly. Could also hear tv's in rooms around us. Outside corridor, and second floor does not have an elevator. We didn't feel all that safe in the neighborhood with homeless walking around and what appeared to be an alley, which in fact is actually a narrow short street called Ash St., that runs from a major busy street right through the middle of the hotel property. The rooms were quite clean and of good size. Because they call this a full service hotel there is a restaurant attached to the property where a complementary breakfast is served. We felt this hotel was a bit pricey for what it was.

Forgive the lead in sentence as it is genuinely not meant to offend. When we first saw this property from the street it is truly frightening. It looks like some sort of prison compound with high walls and surrounded by a terrible part of town. There were a lot of homeless people walking around at all hours of the day and everything around it is very run down. A train track runs along the back of the property. That being said once you pull in you will be pleasantly surprised. The grounds are very clean and well kept, and the rooms are large and very clean. We had a 1 bedroom suite and there was plenty of room for friends to come over and visit and not be crowded in. We were in town for a soccer tournament and stayed 3 nights. The breakfast was just ok, not great but if you are in a hurry it will do. The pool is a nice touch and my girls had a great time swimming with their friends after their games. The front desk was very friendly and helpful. I would absolutely stay here again.

Room Tip: This is hard because some people say to get a room in the front to avoid the train noise, but we wer...

We had a good room on the ground floor which was very comfortable. We appreciated that this Best Western had a "real" hot breakfast vs. egg patties out of a microwave. The internet connection was a bit spotty at times but didn't overshadow the other good qualities of this BW. The grounds were extremely well kept. The trains ran near the hotel but, a few whistles wasn't a bit deal. Overall .... good value.

Hi,

Thank you for taking time in writing this wonderful review about your most recent stay at our hotel.

Thank you for your compliments about upkeep our hotel exterior & grounds. Steve works very hard & does an amazing job in keeping our hotel grounds clean.

Our breakfast might just be one of the best complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast offered among all Tucson hotels. I appreciate your comments & we are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed it.

We are looking forward to welcoming you soon. . .

Sincerely,

Neil Shah (GM)

For being so close to the University, this part of town is a little seedy looking. There is a park right across Stone from the hotel and I would not venture there after dark.
That being said, the hotel staff was very friendly and eager to please. We had a suite with 2 queen beds and a sofa bed in another room. A door can be closed between these two rooms. There is plenty of background noise: other guests, traffic on Speedway, and train whistles are frequent. Appropriately there were ear plugs left with the toiletries.
The suite was clean and this is a green hotel! Points for that.
Good connection to WiFi.
We were comfortable here and felt safe. My daughter had outpatient surgery at UMC on our second day here so we did not stray far. The complimentary breakfast at the restaurant on premises offers a choice of ten solid choices and a beverage. We easily found good free choices. We also had dinner at the same restaurant and we were impressed with the quality of the dinners (see separate review).
If you need a place to stay for a quick visit near campus or UMC this place will serve you well. It is not a resort but you will be treated well and be very comfortable at a very reasonable price.

Green Features: Great job being a green hotel! Nifty shower head, recycling in place and staff helpful with operation of TV and DVD players.

Booked via BW website for 115$. This looks like an old school 1960s motel but recently renovated. Check in was courteous and friendly and there was plenty of parking. My room was located on the second floor, no elevators, but upon entering the room and was impressed with the class of the room, well decorated, with a good king bed, large TV with good selection, sofa, free Wi-Fi. The bathroom was a bit small, with a shower, soap and shampoo dispenser.

The gym was OK but some of the equipment was a bit worn. The pool was heated and pleasant with a good jacuzzi. The best thing here was the breakfast which was served next door, with 10 choices : eggs and bacon, pancake, French Toast, very good and included

Overall, great option in walking distance from downtown.

For a three day stay in Tucson this was clean, quiet and convenient. Good working fsridge and WiFi were what I needed and what I got. Great shower! Friendly staff. Good value! I did not need the restaurant and while the pool looked nice I didn't use it.

Room Tip: I was near the office - convenient and quiet.

Green Features: Very keen on environmentally friendly practices which I appreciated.

The place looked a little rough when we pulled in but it ended up being a diamond in the rough. The staff was accommodating, polite, and helpful. This is an older hotel but the room was clean and spacious with a nice décor. It was quiet and they offer a free full breakfast (with a limited but comprehensive menu and choice of beverage) at the adjacent coffee shop/bar. A good value and great staff. Ask for Julio. He's the man. It is also very close to the University of Arizona.
