“We took over the Royal Elizabeth for Graduation.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2014

We made a great choice when we decided to stay at the Royal Elizabeth for our sons graduation. The room are fabulous. The pool and jacuzzi were wonderful and refreshing after a day in the Tucson heat. The food was indescribably delicious, my favorite was the chile relleno soufflé . Glenn and Susan are the perfect inn keepers/concierge, they take care of all your needs in Tucson and make you feel like you are at home.

Skip and Gina,

We could not have had a better family take over The Liz for two days during graduation week. Your family actually treated Susan and me as part of your family, which we will never forget! The times in the kitchen, laughing and socializing will long be remembered.

Thank you for taking time from your hectic schedule to write such a positive review. We do hope our paths will cross again, if not here, maybe L.A.

Have a great summer and when Marcus is coming back from his cross-country trip, hopefully he will stop by and see us!

We unexpectedly found ourselves without a place to stay and ended up at the Royal Elizabeth. Glenn and Susan were fantastic hosts, the room exquisite and comfortable despite the searing heat. On short notice - Susan got us into a nearby hopping downtown hotspot (Penca) for dinner. Every detail (sheets, towels, robes, DVDs, teas, tasty coffee, gourmet breakfast) all sublime. We already reserved for a return trip!

Catherine and Owen,

First off, Owen, welcome to the Wildcat family!!!

We are so happy you had a memorable experience while staying with us and pleased to have the opportunity to serve you again in August. We thank you for your gracious review and knowing you found your experience at Penca a marvelous one, even excites us more as they are a great partner of ours.

Have a terrific summer and see you in a couple of months.

Wow! What a fabulous time we had over Memorial Day weekend at the Royal Elizabeth B&B in Tucson. Tucson is such a lovely city with so many things to do. The downtown area is just teeming with excellent restaurants. But the BEST OF ALL, was spending 4 nights at "The Liz" with Glenn and Susan. Our room was excellent! The other guests were interesting and friendly and the gourmet breakfasts that Susan and Glenn prepared were out of this world. We liked it so much that we booked our third visit before we left the breakfast table our last day of this trip. Cannot wait to get back in Septembr.

Jan and Don,

Nothing satisfies Susan and me more than having our guests return. Your September visit will be the third one in less than a year!!! NICE!!!! We also enjoyed having you at the Chef's table for two mornings while serving breakfast and striking up great conversation. As Master Gardeners, we will always pick your brain to ensure we offer the best herb garden for our guests.

Again, thank you for your positive review and see you in September, if not sooner for a round of golf at your club in Mesa.

We love the Liz! We love it so much, this was our fifth stay. Every stay has been fabulous and we look forward to our next visit. It's the full hotel experience--a great setting, great amenities, and great service.

Susan and Glen were impeccable hosts and could not possibly have been more helpful. They were super enthusiastic about helping with dinner reservations and were happy to offer suggestions of things to do in Tucson. We enjoyed chatting with them after breakfast.

The many positives:
- This Liz is a very unique building with lots of period charm and stunning woodwork but without being overly fussy.
- Great location--we walked to dinner every night. There are far more great restaurants within walking distance than we had time to eat at during our three-night stay. We also know from past visits that there is great shopping within walking distance.
- The rooms are clean and large, with lots of great features. We were here on vacation, but if I had needed to work, there was a desk with easily accessible outlets. We also love the new super-fluffy towels and I was excited to see that Susan has upgraded the complimentary shampoo/conditioner to Aveda products.
- Susan and Glen are great hosts. We never bother researching things to do in Tucson in advance because we know we will get great advice from our hosts at the Liz (this is a big advantage to staying in a B&B). Susan and Glen suggested hiking trails for us and also gave us a rundown of new restaurants to try. They also were very personable and we really enjoyed chatting with them. Linger a bit at the table after breakfast and you are likely to hear some great stories.
- Great breakfasts. I've said this in past reviews, but I really appreciate that breakfast is a full, hot meal, with protein and not a lot of carbs. The recipes were innovative and very yummy. We especially loved the eggs baked in locally-made tortillas.
- Free WiFi.
- We love the pool and hot tub. We spent a day just lounging around by the pool. We saw a humming bird and a northern flicker while just sitting at the pool.
- Great service at restaurants. The Liz has relationships with many of the best local restaurants. If Susan and Glen hadn't made our reservations, we were sure to mention that we were staying at the Royal Elizabeth when we checked in at the restaurant. As a result, we always got a warm welcome from the restaurant and great service. Sometimes I think we get a better table or restaurants make room for us when they are otherwise booked. The Liz is the only B&B that we've stayed at the actively pursues relationships with the restaurants it refers guests to; it is a very smart business practice and it is a great benefit for guests. Also--just to be clear, the restaurants we've been referred to by the Liz in this visit and in past visits are fabulous (my husband is an Elite Yelp reviewer and we are both very fussy about restaurants). The Liz only pursues relationships with restaurants that meet their high standards.

Normally I include a list of negatives in my reviews, but I love the Liz and I have nothing negative to say about it. It's become the standard by which we measure all other hotels. We are already looking forward to our sixth visit!

Room Tip: We think the best rooms are the Nicole Elizabeth, Ryan Patrick, or Sydney Marie suites because they...

An absolute pleasure from every perspective. Glenn and Susan extend themselves to be a part of your family, take care of everything you could possibly need. The food was outstanding, the rooms are beautiful and large. The location is perfect, your within walking distance to all the action downtown and just far enough off the main streets to be private and quiet. We will always plan on returning to the Royal Elizabeth whenever we are visiting in Tucson. Thanks for making are trip an exceptional experience.

Room Tip: Pick any room, they are all great!!!
