This is a matter of perception. I love organic food, try to eat mostly organic at home, love to see it in a restaurant, and wish it was much more widely available. For this reason I was very eager to try Renee's. Let's start with the decor - corny and contrived. Not relaxing, clever, or fun. Rather cliched. We slipped into a standard restaurant booth, that again, did not contribute to the experience. Either did the lounge lizard music. It was very annoying. What is wrong with these people -- they can't find a decent satellite radio station, or even play a decent mix?
First of all, the menu: full of symbols, but little if any creativity or depth. The standard offerings of a very boring menu. What is so appealing about this place, I have no idea. There were very few vegetarian options. I ended up with a [very small] salad, & my partner ended up with lasagna. Not exactly the light healthy veggie lunch we had in mind! While the ingredients seemed to be of good quality and were fresh, we were totally underwhelmed by the preparation. There was too little flavor and few items to choose from. I could cook a better meal blindfolded. I would have added much more garlic, herbs, onions, beans, squash, cheeses, chocolates, wines, nuts and seeds (not used enough in any restaurant). I would have featured several ethnic dishes, interesting sauces, salad dressings and breads.
Value? Very poor. It COST OVER $20 for this lunch - a skimpy salad and a skimply slice of lasgana! What a racket!
"Organic" is not supposed to be a substitute for preparation, variety, creativity, fun, flavor, atmosphere, seating, location, value. But at Renee's it is.

As the owner I feel this review is a gross misrepresentation of the experience we create for you here. While taste and style are individual rights and so are reviews that express them this review is a of poor taste and it didn't come from us. It seems like they did not read the menu but state they want all the things we have as if we don't have them? For example About 75 % of our menu is vegetarian and while they don't like the icons they clearly state how much of our menu is vegan or vegetarian. We do offer nuts they listed as toppings, features on salads and listed on pizza creations. Beans are on plenty of menus in Tucson...We are not making every dish with them but we make two top sellers with beans that we soak, boil, season and then blend. The ethnic sauce comment is a bit ridiculous we have Thai sauce, hummus sauce for a Mideast pizza, a black bean sauce for a Yucatan pizza., BBQ sauce, pesto sauce, marinara sauce, chorizo sauce.I have been selling lasagna here for years this is 1 of 2 people to say it was a small portion. The lasagna is by no imagination small let alone skimpy and it is layered with all the veggies, herbs and garlic mentioned. The salad is $3 when added to the pasta dish and by no means is overpriced and anyone eating organic or dining out would never really think so. This is the first review by this person and it feels very rude. The Music here is played through Pandora Pink Martini station and while I understand they did not enjoy it we and our guests really do enjoy it. Something is not wrong with those who like it just as nothing is wrong with them for not liking it. The art... well not everyone likes the same art but is made for our restaurant personally by local artists so contrived and cliched it is not. We are mostly a pizzeria; our cuisine is simple and fresh; we offer lots of extras and we are preparers of organic food at an affordable price. We are in the business of making great food and providing awesome service and I think they were looking for a circus to entertain them.
