“Our stay September 26 October 3, 2013”

What a delightful place to relax! Dennis and Christine were very personable; she and I had fun chatting about our growing up experiences. We've stayed at a number of bed and breakfasts and never had anything close to the gourmet, imaginative meals that were served to us. We stayed in the Santa Ana Casita. It was just right - clean, comfortable (!) bed, a patio leading to the garden and pool area, a more private patio patio for looking at the mountains and watching the quail, lots of windows to make it feel light and airy, a circular stairway to ascend to that comfortable bed. I loved the plant window in the shower. One of the much appreciated features was the quiet and and the chance to stargaze without having to drive somewhere. Come back? Absolutely.

Room Tip: The circular stairway is a bit tricky to negotiate so choose a different room to stay if you have an...

We highly recommend the Azure Gate! A beautiful home with a wonderful pool to use at your leisure! It was my birthday when they arrived and were thoughtful enough to have a tasty cupcake and candle waiting for me! Dennis and Christine are very hospitable hosts who are very warm and chatty. Well appointed, very clean and Absolutely fabulous food and Dennis cooks himself - presentation was astounding! We would love to plan a trip back!

Room Tip: They are all worth the value!

Wow! What can we say to add to all the excellent reviews on here! As so many others have said, we had a fantastic stay at Azure Gate. We stayed in the Santa Ana House which is attached to the main house but has its own door on to the swimming pool terrace and another door on to a private terrace where we loved to sit watching the lovely desert scenery in Azure Gate's own land. Santa Ana has its own lounge and kitchen area with microwave and large fridge which was already stocked with drinks and milk. Coffee beans and other goodies were also provided thanks to the hospitality of Christine and Dennis, as well as a wealth of information on the local area. The bedroom was in a loft area reached by a spiral staircase and the bathroom was downstairs so be prepared for that if you get up in the night! The breakfasts have already been well described on here and they were outstanding. Every day we wondered what the dish of the day would be and it was always delicious and prepared with such care and described in detail by Dennis. There are also 2 bedrooms in the main house and another larger detached house called Catalina. We met guests from all the rooms and they all spoke highly of their accommodation. Azure Gate is set in lovely peaceful desert scenery and close to Saguaro NP East, yet within a few minutes drive of Tucson with its restaurants. A very special place to stay.

Room Tip: Santa Ana if you are happy with a spiral staircase, otherwise Catalina.

We were very happy to come back at the Azure Gate after 6 years. What a beautiful and wonderful place this is. We stayed for four nights in the Santa Ana Guesthouse in september 2013. We again enjoyed the hospitality of Dennis and Christine, especially the excellent breakfasts cooked by chef Dennis. Every morning we were asked: Do you need any directions? The answer to that question could just be "no"! Who wants to leave paradise? To bad we missed the javalinas, next time maybe? Thx!

Room Tip: Both guesthouses are great! Don't miss the pool and the hummingbirds.

We knew right away that we had picked a unique, wonderful place as we drove into the desert neighborhood and onto the Azure Gate B and B grounds. Dennis met us at the car and we immediately felt welcome as we were shown the grounds, the house, and our accommodations. Then we met Christine and felt we had found kindred spirits who are fun and interesting to chat with. They are very knowledgeable about the area and shared suggestions and opinions freely. Christine and Dennis have a lovely place that has a very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, which they are kind enough to share with those of us who are fortunate enough to find Azure Gate!

The breakfasts are spectacular; full of flavor and presentation of the meal is an artistic feat that is different each morning. A lot of thought is put into the menu and the breakfasts are unique and quite tasty; Dennis is an accomplished chef in his element. The meals were like nothing we have had at other B and Bs.

We stayed in the Santa Ana Guest House which lent privacy while still being right on the courtyard near the inviting pool and many bird visitors. The bed in the loft is quite comfortable and the guest house had everything we needed for a multi-night stay, including a thoughtfully well-stocked kitchenette. It was very nicely decorated and was quite comfortable. We very much look forward to our next visit, and highly recommend Azure Gate Bed and Breakfast for a special place to stay.

We stayed here mid August 2013. We are outdoor enthusiasts/birders.. What a find is this B&B. Location incredible for gorgeous outdoors and outdoor space. We stayed in the Santa Ana guesthouse and loved it..You have to climb up a circular stair to get to the bed so if this is a challenge for anyone be aware... The accommodations are clean, and great attention to detail (bathrobes, coffee beans, coffee grinder, cream&juice/sodas in the fridge, snack mix) .. Sink, microwave, fridge in kitchen area. You are in the desert and then within appx one mile is a starbucks, safeway, subway, restaurants, CVS, etc. It is close drive to Mt Lemmon an amazing natural park there with many options for walking, hiking, picnic, outdoor activities, etc., and the temps drop as you drive up to the top. The pool, the outdoor space for guests is very nicely and tastefully decorated. If you like watching birds, there are many seed feeders and hummingbird feeders around. Dennis knows his birds and the species seen on the property. Christina is a warm, friendly woman with great stories and much fun to talk with. We really enjoyed ourselves. It was very warm (>100 degrees) and we had the best time staying there. If you love the outdoors, beautiful skies, cactus everywhere, try it out.

Room Tip: We saw the rooms in the house and they looked fine. We were happy to be in the Santa Ana Guest House...

Dennis and Christine have created a breathtakingly beautiful oasis in the Tucson desert.

The B&B is situated within a garden of outstanding diversity and beauty that attracts the local birds, lizards and mammals. As an east-coast gardener I was surprised how compelling and peaceful I found this desert garden. A good deal of the charm comes from not only the quality of the plantings but the incorporation of found art objects throughout garden. This attention to detail without artifice is what makes this B&B so special - from the grounds to the accommodations to the impeccable service.

My husband and I stayed 2 nights with our 16-year old at the end of a 9-day trip. We rented the Sabino and Saguaro rooms, which was an excellent choice as they are adjacent to one another but allowed us some space from our son (or our son from us).

Both breakfasts were absolutely amazing. Day 1 - pecan waffles, fresh fruit, and sausages with brandy and fresh herbs. Our son declared the sausages as "the best ever." Day 2 - a "continental breakfast" ( so we could make our early morning flight) of fresh yogurt and wild blueberries, fresh fruit, cereal, and warm croissants. Both were served by Dennis and Christine outside on the patio next to the pool - lovely.

The B&B is also located in a gorgeous neighborhood; great for evenings walks and within a close drive of beautiful excursions into the canyons. Each night we stayed out late, road cruising and saw an amazing diversity of herptofauna and a few other creatures including tarantula, skunks, and coytote.

Our son especially loved the pool and the extensive movie collection.

Room Tip: If you are traveling with children and want to keep them close, but not too close, chose the adjace...
