“Great ambience, decent food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2014

Went to the Cup Cafe with a co-worker, her mother and her teenage son. Loved the funky decor (all of us)! and there was a great outdoor patio area (although we opted for indoors). We had an attentive and on-it waiter who knew his stuff. We ordered everything from the trout to a burger to fish and chips - everyone walked away satisfied. Personally found the trout very tasty and I love a place that knows how to give you a decent pour of wine. Prices were right, service was excellent, surroundings eclectic. My only complaint (and it's a small one) is that the front entry and hall to bathrooms has a smell that isn't so great and I have a feeling it always smells like that. Like I said, it shouldn't keep anyone away - just be prepared. Cant' speak to parking. Someone pulled away from the front right as we drove up so we had rock star parking. I honestly don't know if there is a lot or what around there...it looked like street parking could be challenging. Definitely would recommend to friends, especially those who like things a tiny bit different.

“Cup Cafe on Our “Most Wanted List"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2014

If the Cup Cafe was in operation in the ’30’s, it’s no wonder John Dillinger holed up there. We were downtown anyway, on our way to the Smokey Robinson concert at Casino del Sol, had heard a lot about the great restaurant in the Hotel Congress and decided to try it. The food, service and prices make it worth being rousted by the Feds. We did make reservations the day before and those were politely reconfirmed by telephone. Greeted by name, we were immediately seated and a server appeared before we knew it. Service was impeccable but very friendly (and we were addressed by name more than once by different waitstaff). The food was exquisite. My husband had the Real Thing -- it is criminal to call this delight a hamburger. Accompanied by Papas Fritas, possibly the best french fries ever to pass our lips, we almost arm-wrestled over this plate. Fortunately, the Chicken & Gnocchi I ordered were equally delicious so we just split both plates (we didn’t want to start a ruckus and cause the Feds to return). I had one of their speciality cocktails, a Hurricane -- OK, I had two -- which made the 104-degree weather outside a distant memory. Parking is plentiful in an underground, guarded structure across the street, there is lovely outside seating when it’s not 8 bazillion degrees (or even when it is), and the prices are more than fair for the fabulous food. There are vegan offerings. Frequented by well-heeled ex-hippies and vibrant young people sporting lots of ink, the vibe is kitschy, Bohemian, non-formal and yet quietly dignified. We loved it and plan to return with friends in tow. At this cafe, their “Cup runneth over."

“Fresh wholesome food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2014 via mobile

My favorite restaurant in Tucson, the Cup's unique ambiance flows from the old architectural style of the hotel which combines with a flavorful menu, long on pure simple ingredients, that always ends in the best pie in town. It's a fun reason to pass all those chains and head downtown.

“Sunday ritual”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

The breakfast menu at The Cup is spectacular, interesting, different, high quality and the service is spectacular, and high quality. the atmosphere is historic and makes for a perfect father's Day for people who love the history of the old west. The Deposition 'skillet' breakfast is huge and satisfying and has that touch of the Southwest with the chorizo.

“Breakfast at the Cup”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2014

My husband loved the baked eggs for breakfast. it's one of their signature meals. I had the omelet. Both tasty meals. You get plenty to eat. You can sit inside or out. They are dog friendly.

Dogs are always welcome at The Cup. We like the idea that when you're out walking the dog on a nice evening, you can stop in for a drink and some of our $5 Bar Eats.
