Two or three years ago, I was staying at the Windmill Suites at St. Phillip's Plaza, a small, classy shopping area with several very interesting little shops. It is also home to Vivace, a wonderful Italian restaurant. I ate there and was very impressed, so when I was headed to Tucson again I decided to repeat the experience. The desk clerk at the Windmill was kind enough to make me a reservation, which was good because when I got there on Friday night the restaurant was packed. One of the things that had impressed me on my initial visit was the quality of the service offered by a waiter named Kamran, a very personable and knowledgeable fellow. Fortunately, I was once again seated in his section. I began with the best lemon-drop martini I have ever had---actually, one of the best cocktails I have ever tasted. There was warm crusty bread to dip in a sauce that seemed to be olive oil, vinegar and herbs. I had a lovely spinach salad, followed by the same entree I had before---chicken breast stuffed with crab, accompanied by a wonderfully creamy vegetable rice. Kamran chose a wine for me that was perfectly matched to the meal. Despite the fact that his section was full, I felt as if I were his only customer, and I could tell every one else felt the same. He even remembered that I had dined with him before. If I lived in Tucson, I would be at Vivace with Kamram every week.
