“Order the Chimichangas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

Location easy to find just off freeway downtown. Brightly painted house with inside and porch dining. Waitperson very good and explained the menu. Lots of ways to have a chimichanga. Mine with shredded pork and melted cheese was great. The flan for desert was exceptional and tasted homemade.

“Our favorite place to go”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

El Charro is our hands down favorite place to go in Tucson (we live here). The food is always good, the service always wonderful, we love the setting and feeling while we are there. We go to the Ventana location most frequently, but have also gone to the original more than once. Right now they have their summer specials- try the watermelon margarita- it is yummy!

“A Tucson Favorite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

I make it down to Tucson at least twice a year & I always stop for dinner at El Charro! They are definitely famous for their Carne Seca, I crave it so much sometimes I'll eat here on the way into town & back out with an order to go! Great history, being the oldest family Mexican restaurant & the bar is always hopping. This is the place I take every out of town guest every time I go to Tucson. Service is great, food is delish, you can't go wrong. Be sure to get there early, they get busy!

“Great Food at El Charro”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

There were 3 of us and we each ordered a different dish. All the dishes were well presented and delicious. The large portions made us take "to go" boxes. A fabulous expericene.

“Where to take visitors when they want an authentic Mexican meal!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

The restaurant is in an old house in El Presidio neighborhood on the edge of downtown Tucson. Visitors need to see how downtown Tucson is becoming a great downtown. El Charro literally wrote a book on Tequila and margaritas, so here you can get a real tequila drink without the pale green food colored mix. We all had the "Natural" which has Milagro Organic 100% Agave Silver, Reposado, Agave & lime. Not too sweet and served in a real tall glass. We usually get the carne seca since it is the best and dried right there on the roof. Two of us got the carne seca which was superb, but for a change I got a Pescado dish. Everything was simply perfect including the refried beans, the service, and the tres leches cake. Our guest loved the whole experience!
