We Yelped this place and based on those reviews, we decided to take a chance. Wow!! Who ever would say that this place is bland just doesn't get it! It is anything but bland. Our waiter, Hector, was as entertaining and accommodating as he was knowledgeable about the food. The menu is small (written on chalk boards propped on a stand or carried to the table), but that is the eclectic nature of it...it is quickly changed and updated.
We went with another couple and started with drinks, hand made from scratch (no pre-mixed ingredients here). Delicious and so flavorful!! After a complete explanation of the dishes (they were all on the chalkboard, but in Spanish, so they needed to be described), we collectively decided on the Chef's Special. After carefully determining our individual tastes, likes and dislikes, Hector placed our order, keeping us consistently full on our drinks until the meal came.
It was delicious, and because of how the meal is served, sharing is a great idea. The flavors were multi-layered. Hector described the individual ingredients and you could actually taste them in each dish. You can tell that the time they put into the preparation of the individual ingredients is painstaking and not rushed. Delicious.
Hector brought us a couple bar "samples" to tempt us...it worked. We ordered a Kahlua-type drink for dessert and then the frosting on top of the entire meal was a chocolate cake with frosting and berries...that alone was about an hour on the treadmill for me. I can't wait to go back. I can't speak to the quality of the rest of the wait staff, but I'll be asking for Hector, no doubt!!
