“Charming!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

This is a super sweet hostel with the comforts, care, and cleanliness of a home. The woman in charge, Maaike, was super sweet and informative. My only complaints are that guests were overly loud and smoking on both entry ways. I would recommend that either the front or back porch be 'no smoking' so others can eat and enjoy the fresh air. I will stay here again if I am in Tucson.

This hostel is the best I've ever stayed at in the world!
Located in the quiet neighborhood but exceptionnally close to downtown and to the liveliest streets at night (4th avenue and Congress), you'll never find a better (and cheapest) place to stay for all it has to offer !
The staff is very friendly, available to any question, and very fun people to hang out with.
The house is gorgeous on the outside, very colorful and in keeping with the mexican influence of the region. A little terrasse on the front where it's nice to watch the monsoons in the summer, and a big patio on the back to read in the shade or enjoy barbecue nights!
The inside is always kept clean, nice TV lounge, big kitchen where everybody can fix themselves a little treat, open onto an enormous bar where you can enjoy your free whaffles and coffee in the morning ! Very nicely laid out !
The girls' room is very agreable, with lots of books at your disposition and the beds will give you a big laugh (you'll get to choose your sheets with either Dora the explorer or Barbie on them !)
Of course, there are computers with free access to the Internet or a wifi connexion available.
I can't think of a reason not to enjoy your stay there!

Room Tip: The girls' room is a very nice dorm and the coolest room in the summer!

Really fun hostel. Located on a quiet street, but not far from fun parts of town, like 4th Street. Nice big kitchen, tv in the living room to watch movies on, two computers you could use for free with high speed internet, etc. In the mornings they have free waffles and coffee, and they also provide a free towel. Fun place in the back to hang out. It had a very nice, homey feel to it. The bathroom doors were decorated with a collage of photos. Also really personable people who work there, open to talk and with good senses of humor. I would highly recommend this hostel to people.

This hostel is a delight to stay at. The friendly staff does a great job keeping it clean, and have lots of books, pamphlets, and advice on hand to give about what's going on in Tucson to do for fun and how to get around. Computers are available for internet use, and there are also a few parking spaces in back if you have a car. A cat lives in the main house with the dorm rooms, so if you are allergic to cats like I am you'll probably want to stay in a private room instead--the private rooms are across the street in a separate building. The hostel is also in a central, convenient location.

Excellent place to stay when visiting Tucson! Extremely clean and friendly with lots of fun people to meet. Very close to the Tucson Downtown with all the restaurants, bars, coffee shops, galleries and fun walks only a couple of blocks away. Yet it rests in a quiet and historic neghborhood. The Staff is very friendly and often improvise dinners for the guests! One of the staff members is an avid spelunker and we ended up exploring three of the large AZ caves in the area! Lots of fun!!!
You are up for a treat in the morning with free waffles. If you are new to Tucson, every morning the staff in charge writes on a board next to the waffle iron all the major gigs in town so you can pick your choice for the day or night. Been visiting almost every year and was never disappointed. Highly recommended!!!

I stayed there in august to visit Tucson. It's the best way to meet a lot of people, and, there are some awesome people to meet! Both the people who stayed there as the people who work there. I'm not sure if i would enjoyed Tucson as much as i did if i didn't stayed at the hostel. The hostel is clean, cosy, well organised and not to forget, there is a delicious waffle breakfast to start the hot day :). It's near downtown and not that far from the university.
If i go back, i'll definitely go back to tucson and this hostel. Thank you for making it a great stay!
