Unlike a lot of people, I find the prices at AJ's too high for normal grocery shopping. But I definitely go there for fish and meat, which is the best in town. And there are great specialty items. But the only real bargain is the sushi, which is terrific, particularly during happy hour. The service can be surly (their original really great sushi chefs have both left, and IMHO, the remaining chefs are amateurs by comparison) but hey, it's not a fancy restaurant. It's a sushi bar in a grocery store, and the sushi is terrific.
