“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

I should have read tripadvisor prior to staying. The first room we had wasn't made up yet. The second room, a Casita, was nothing you'd expect for a Casita. The air conditioner didn't cool the entire living space. It was a very hot day, but they should have 2 units to cool it. The furniture was run down, holes in the drapes, no wine glasses and the worst coffee. The breakfast was basic but disorganized. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Features: Casitas with semi private back patio, on-site restaurant, Breakfast included, Pool and helpful staff, fairly quiet, on-site work out facility.
Stayed here for 4 days and it served me well. Put the do not disturb sign out, would set trash out and was completely left alone. Great place inexpensive way to check out of life and come home to yourself. This is not a high end swanky place nor is it a lower end wonder if they changed the sheets kind of place.

Even-though they have kitchenette (microwave, fridge,Coffee Maker sink, dishes and eating space) they do not provide the supplies to clean the dishes. Made me wonder if the stuff in the cabinet had been rinsed or properly sanitized.
Things to bring: Dish Soap, Paper Towels,

The A/C does not keep up with the entire space due to the location of the unit. I had to keep both sets of drapes closed and bathroom door closed to keep it comfortable in the kitchen area and bath area. Typical for Tucson though. Good news is there is a ceiling fan over the bed and the A/C is located next to the bed so sleeping was comfortable as long as the noise of the unit is not an issue to you.

The pool is nice with waterfall and Jacuzzi, there is a great onsite gym as well.

There is no onsite business office, but The Hampton Inn next door has one and you have use of it. For the price and the ability to just relax this is definitely worth it.

Room Tip: Casitas on the south end,. The majority of the Casitas face East and West so the sun comes directly...

We frequent Tucson often to see in-laws and for an occasional "staycation", so this time we chose La Posada. I was somewhat hesitant as we have never stayed here before, nor do we know anyone who has, but it seemed like a reasonable short notice option and appeared ok from what was online. There were a few reviews that made me cautious and I know now that I should have paid more attention to those particular reviews. . . . .
We selected a casita after much research online. I have to say the patio out front of the casita was quite lovely, but once inside we were very disappointed. It was nothing more than a dated hotel room with a microwave stationed above a tiny wetbar sink. The refrigerator is what you would expect in any hotel room. So by all accounts, the only thing that made this "casita" special was the patio, otherwise the room was just a very small room with tiny wetbar.
The room itself was dated as mentioned above, and it was odd that the only bed covering was a thin sheet and the bedspread, which I would never use. We did find a dusty blanket packed away in the closet and though I was hesitant to use it, I had no other option. I understand most hotels and resorts now only use the sheets and cover the bed blankets (for sanitary reasons), but this was an odd set-up. The bathroom was extremely small and though the shower and sink had been updated to a nice mexican style tile, it didn't make up for the rest of the room, which included noticeable stains on the carpet. We did appreciate the decorative headboard and found it very unique. We had ants visiting us in the bathroom and unfortunately in the bed (we realize this is southern AZ and there will be critters, we just don't expect them in our bed), because of this we requested to change rooms and were immediately accomodated. We were put in the casita one room over (C-9) but unfortunately, it was extremely musty as well and smelled of stale menthol cigarettes, luckily no ants in this one. The smell was so strong that our clothes picked up the odor and we had to wash everything upon returning home, even the items we didn't wear - it was like we were at a smoke filled bar all night and hadn't changed our clothes. They use air freshener to try and mask the odors, but this just makes it smell like cheap air freshener and stale cigarettes.
The pool area is deceiving online and is much smaller that what appears in photos. There was hardly any room for all guests and even less room because there were family groups taking up much of the pool area hosting personal parties, which was very odd (there are no pool attendants). It reminded me of being at someone's apartment complex pool. Needless to say we chose to forgo hanging out at the pool.
I did not partake in the free breakfast, but my husband described it as "basic" and he did not return the following morning (we opted for Starbucks across the street) - he did comment that there was no one picking up the dirty dishes, which were left out and around on tables.
Overall it was not what we expected. . . there are many other options for staying in Tucson, so we will not be returning to La Posada.

We just returned from a trip to Tucson to attend a graduation. The property is easy to find and close to where other relatives were staying at Westward Look and just a few miles from where we had graduation dinner at La Encantada. Its best features are that all the rooms back up to beautifully landscaped grounds, and the property is perched on the edge of a green belt/golf course which apparently attracts many birds. We saw doves, quail, tanagers, finches, woodpeckers, starlings and hawks from our balcony. Our first impression of the room itself is that it was once a highway motel which has been stuccoed over and refurbished, due to the really small bathroom and general layout. Furniture included a large armoire with flat screen TV, desk, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, 2 comfortable queens, nightstand, iron/board. Free wifi worked perfectly although was a little slow. There is a free breakfast buffet served in the attached restaurant with scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage, breads, muffins, cereals, etc. and it was sufficient. A big plus is that we enjoyed our meal on the restaurant's large wraparound deck with a view of the clouds coming up over the Catalinas. A couple of negatives are that the room smelled a little moist/musty and the grout in the shower was quite moldy. Overall, I would say La Posada is better than average, as it met our needs but I wouldn't quite rave about it.

Room Tip: Ask for a room toward the south end on an upper floor (there are 3 floors) if youd like a better vie...

Rooms very compact but grounds nice. I will stay in a casita next time - lovely setting overlooking golf-course. Staff very pleasant, breakfast in the very pretty Miquel's restaurant and included scrambled eggs, sausage, nice salsa too, plus cereal, fresh fruit, etc. The location is really central for most of Tucson - try it!

We booked this hotel because it was near a reception we were attending in Tucson. Our room was a casita. It was not large but very quiet with a nice enclosed front patio area. The patio had a nice view of the mountains. Assorted wildlife joined us over coffee including several types of lizards and birds. Someone at the party we attended said the hotel had undergone a major redo and because the rooms were small the price was kept low. Our room could us a bit of freshening, a stain on the carpet etc. but overall the effect was charming.

We stayed two nights and it was great. The rooms next to the main road are not as quiet as the rooms on the other side, but still the rooms by the road are not all that bad. It was a good stay at a great price. The breakfast was very fresh and filling. My wife and I had a great get away weekend. Thanks La Posada!

Room Tip: The quieter rooms are away from the main road.
