“A Big Disappointment - They should Pay Us to Play Here!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

My husband and I golfed Fred Enke today after first playing this course 25 years ago and have always wanted to come and give it another try. Why, we don't know!!!! The carts are old and ricketty, I had to search for one without torn seats, paths are nothing but gravel and on the 2nd hole they said there were rough paths ahead - what an understatement. Fairways are dormant, browned with no grass to speak of, greens are lumpy with many areas of dead grass so you have no idea where your ball might end up. Also, their idea of pin placements is to have all yellow flags with indicators but they are all wrong. What a shame... this is a municipal golf course so is supported by taxpayers. We have played many municipal courses in other cities in the United States and they have all been grreat - not this one.CLose this course and safe the taxpayers a burden. Stay away from Fred Enke and save your money!!

“Desert & Challenging”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

Scheduled to be closed, this course this course has some surprises. Good elevation, desert and narrow fairways. Direction is more important than distance. Fun if you like a little challenge.

“Great, If Rough, Desert Track”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2012

Okay, so the first couple of times you play this course, you won't have a clue where you're going or where you're supposed to put the ball on some holes or how far anything is, but if you give the course a chance, it just may turn into one of your favorite tracks in Tucson. Usually a good place for inexpensive greens fees. The desert is pretty wild, so if you hit your ball into the junk, you probably won't want to go looking for it. Lots of road runners and coyote, even the occasional bobcat. After a while, once you learn your way around the course, it will be one of your favorites, too. The 9th is really tough to par. Only complaint is the rather ordinary finishing hole. Otherwise a great desert layout!

“Fred Enke”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2012

We truly like this course. We are recreational golfers and just like to be out there. This is a difficult course with rock walls and washes to shot OVER. There are hills but it is also very open. Not much water to avoid.

“A Must Play”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2003

bring extra balls unless you put your woods away. Drive up and take a look at whats in front of you and lay up for the best golf. Course management is a must here. Bring a camera. Well kept course. Lots of fun. Please repair divits and pick-up trash left by others. Set a example dont be the example.
