“A definite visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

Sabino Canyon is one of the most beautiful places in the southwest. The best time of the year is the spring since there will be waterfalls and streams. You can walk up the mountain or take the tram. We have taken the tram up and walked back down - stopped to eat lunch at the picnic tables scattered off the side of the road. There are people who actually swim here also. We try to visit at least once a year. There is a charge for parking and for the tram. Otherwise you can go for free.

“Don't miss Sabino Canyon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

This was recommended by local people and we are pleased we visited. We only had the morning, but could easily have spent the whole day here. It is the perfect place for just mooching about. Walking is varied to suit all abilities. A tram (there is a charge) takes you up hill into the canyon. As long as you do not return to the starting point, you can hop on and off, go up and down, as much as you like. There are about eight tram stops with toilet facilities at some. We took the tram to then end of the line and went for a walk. The path is clear but uneven. December was a perfect time to visit, pleasant weather and not too busy. We could stop and enjoy the views in solitary splendour. A simple picnic would have worked well. Going back, we didn't take the tram...it's only a few miles, the road is good and it is down hill all the way. Had we had more time, we would have diverted off several times.

“Sabino Canyon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

Took the tram to the end of the ride and returned to back down. We got off the tram at stop 4 and walked back to enjoy the scenery, cacti, and trees. Sadly there was nothing blooming, but with a pure blue sky, photos were great. Highly recommend this if you are in Tucson. Very handicap accessible.

“Watch out for mountain lions”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

Great place close to town. Great for hikers but also great for tired sightseers who can ride the tram up into the canyon and back. And you can get on and off the tram at numerous stops. Not expensive. Beautiful views. They even give you instructions on what to do upon sighting a mountain lion.

“A hidden treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

We were visiting Phoenix from Tampa, and took a day to drive to Tucson to do some of the things there. This was the one thing that turned out to be worth the drive. I had never seen and toured a canyon. The way they have developed it makes it easy to explore. HINT: if you plan on walking some - which is very easy and fun to do there - take some water shoes since you have to cross overflow water bridges to get from section to section. The tram will take you, but then you are limited to waiting for the next tram. These are easy to cross as the water is just a couple of inches high and its the same bridge the tram drives over. Note: You can enjoy this canyon and not do any hiking at all. So this is perfect for groups that have lots of different skills and abilitiy levels. The main area at the bottom has great facilities. The staff here is the best. You can tell they love this canyon.
